What mod's did you do to fit the STI intercooler (or did you use an '08 ) which is the same AFAIK?

sorry may not have been clear...I went with the AVO TMIC but my tuner and mechanic said they felt sure the MY08 onwards wrx sti tmic is still way more efficient than the AVO. Fitment would be an issue requiring some more mods. I am happy enough with the AVO as I am still running stock turbo.

Also the old bar and plate vs tube and fin debate exists here no doubt.

GTSPECB STI wrote:fmic is def optimum for making power but you then are faced with the issue of having a maxed out stock turbo. Its a never ending list if you are constantly searching for increased power. I honestly think that 180 kw is the max you will get out the VF46 but that's still a very nice amount of power for our cars. Also tuning on a dyno with fans forcing air into your scoop will net you as much as driving on the open road will. What sort of ambient temps were your tuners getting when they tuned your car?

the first run was at 24C

the other run was at 27C

i picked up the car yesterday any my thoughts where that it felt better through gears 1 to 4 flat out on a 27C day then it did flat out on a 17C day.

as i'm sure you guys are aware of how much ambient temps can change the performace of our cars, i think that i'm quite happy with the results.

http://www.overl0ad.com/legacyfiles/dyn ... -%2001.pdf

I know its a few weeks old but excuse my newbness but whats the go with this dyno run and the AFR's changing so weirdly between 2500 and say 3250 rpm. Is this a typical lib GT plot ? or is it something wierd. If thats the case I can see where the stock hesitation comes from straight away

As to your tune I'd keep the AFRs in the low 11's not 10s thats too much and the wrong way to stop detonation if that was their intent . Back the timing off with the increased boost that they have obviously done. Bring the timing back into it after you sort the rest

I can't wait to get mine on the dyno but it will be late May before we get it installed

Confirmed: (not my chart, but the massive AFR crash is there). Oh, and this is stock car from the JPG title.

PS: Appols if this is someone's chart from here, I checked and there's no traceable identiey other than the ACT thing. But there's lots of GT's in CNB. ;) Could even have been a random from the net.

Thats alot different to what I expected. I'll have a wild guess and say they don't want any warranty claims with cracked ring land, its so rich mid to top end.
That drop off into extreme richness is pretty ordinary too although this is at full load where fuel economy nor emissions are a problem

I know you guys have probably already heard it as I'm very late to the party but I see lots of potential (welcome to late 2006 parso  )
wheres my damned openport I should have ticked the express post option :P

Your spot on regarding the AFR fluctuation on stock tune and yes this is the hesitation issue but clearly this can be resolved as was the case with mine. No hesitation issues now and peak torque of 415 Nm at 3250 rpm for me. AFR running straight line around 11.2. Big difference to stock!! I have dyno graph posted somewhere showing first tune vs stock.

All this techo stuff is above me, but I sure as hell know that I don't want the current surgy, sparatic power delivery that I've got and I hope like hell that whom-ever I end up choosing to tune my car knows this shit inside out...

Crap tune doesn't start to describe the factory setup. Hence why I've been hanging for ODBII support from Tactrix for the My07 (only on the scene for the last 6 mths).
AFR is horrific, boost is all over the show (jaggered as crap) and I'm yet to see timing/advance but no doubt it's just as bad.

Far from. There's not many real tech people on here, I think including you, that'll be 3 of us (that aren't vendors).
I can see from your other ride, you've actually got real experience in Subaru and performance, so it'll be nice to break out some nuts and bolts discussions. Can't wait for the same old arguments to crop up again.

I've finally received my ver 2 openport and fired up ecuflash and have been looking at the stock map. very interesting indeed also had a look with learning view to see whats going on.(Thanks for the heads up on that BTW). Bugger me if I can't get the car to knock with the Shell 98. Stupidly I had reset the ECU prior to using this damn.

I will have to get some E10 or just 95 Ron and give it some punishment
well you get the idea

New Dyno turns up next Friday fun times

Parso, isn't the MY08 factory tuned for 95 RON like the MY07?

If it is, then Optimax isn't going to ping on the crap rich factory tune for 95. I reckon E10 Standard should get you done though. ;-)

Thats what I meant sort of
When we first bought the car I tired a few tanks of the E10 and then started to noticed the jerky response on shifts without even thinking there could be a connection, I actually thought it was me and DBW.
I'm just a bit surprised that I see no correction at all with the 98 compared to a dodgy fuel supposedly3 points lower (or was it really metho mixed with turps who knows)
All good

It could just be that there have been no knock adjustments, but I'd ask two questions:

1. What's your IAM?

2. How much A/F Learning is there?

Number 1 is particularly important as the entire FLKC table gets reset to zero every time IAM changes.

Hmm a bit of a delay in replying, I had my Mini 9 laptop stolen whilst I was in a shopping centre and have lost a lost of stuff software wise. Luckily I have a few others so I'm back into it again. Inner west is full of thieves :x NHJ anyway moving right along...

It was back up to 1 but I've just reset it once again and will let it go through the usual steps back up again (and watch the FLKC table out of interest).
