Delivery Time

Postby sogg » Wed Mar 28, 2007 11:09 am

Hey guys,
Well just came back from my trip from melb where i went and purchased a my07 Liberty Gt spec B. I got one in auto, black sedan with the sat nav. But the guys at the dealer told me that they had none of these cars in australia and that it would have to be built. i asked roughly how long they thought and they said July! unless there were some already on the way. To me this sounds way to long for them to get the car here? Whats the average wait times you guys had when buying?

3-4 months wait sounds like a long time.
July delivery should in theory mean that car should be MY08 plated.
I wouldn't think that std black sedan with auto gearbox would be that rare?

If you were buying MY07 car around that period you would want to get a decent discount on the purchase price, in fact I think you will find Subaru will have a sale around that time (end of financial year) with free rego, green slip, etc to clear the MY07 stock.

Have you signed the purchase contract knowing that you will be getting your car in July?
Is delivery time mentioned anywhere on the contract?

EDIT: there is a black MY07 auto sedan with 13 kms on the clock available at Docklands Subaru

Nah ET. July is too early for MY08.

They release the new years models in Australia in September/October and they're BUILT in July.

My MY07 was in the showroom end August last year and built in July.

3-4 months is the standard promise if the car has to come from Japan. Same for all the Japanese brands.

From what I know sum 2007 plated ones should be on a ship heading this way. They started production this month.

the ones on the way may be allocated to other deals... but i wouldn have thought you would be waiting that long for that combo.... factory sat av can make it a longer wait....

they only make a few random ones with that feature from factory.

if you wan to speed things up... get sat nav put in here in aus... wil cost you an extra $700 but may be wrth it to have your car sooner 8)
YOU WOULD BE COOLER IF YOU WERE ME!

Just got a phone call from subaru. Apprently the only car in australia to match the specs i want is in sydney but they are not sure of the build date of the car. And if it not as i have speced. The estimated delievery time for the car to be built and sent over will be August! Frankly i am shocked that a car will take that long to get here. Its a black gt spec b with sat nav, surely they arent that rare!

when we were buying there were supposedly only2 cars that fitted our specs(read price point) ON THE WAY to the country at the time and it was still too FRARKIN' long for my liking.about a month. either the gt without satnav or the 3.0 with.... which came in at about the same price.
one day I'll have enough cash to walk in somewhere and say "that one " then drive away as they start sorting out the paperwork........
one day.
bugger me i hate waitin'
I spend most of my money on booze, fast cars and women, I just waste the rest...

As i see it, I would be a idiot to accept the august delievery seeing as the MY08 will be here a month late or so. Im still stunned that they cant get a car here quicker. Surely there must be more then 2 shipments a year of cars!

Another update,
The car that may of been available has been sold.
There is a Diamond grey one on the way which should be here may. But im not a fan of that colour.
There are some Gt spec b's without the satnav coming in june/july
And since mine will have to be built from scratch im looking at "Best case july worst case August"

really annoying as i was really looking foreward to getting it before my august holidays!

Damn thats a long wait. I'm assuming they fit the sat nav from factory? Cuz if they fit it here buy 1 without it and get it done here.
