Got some snaps of the factory dump pipe while it was off senator's Lib (Phat was fitting a dump pipe):

A rather ugly little thing with two restrictive cats.

The solid plate in lieu where an opening should be!

and it weighs about three times as much as Phats DP too! No problem passing emissions tests with that stocker though.

Took a picture underneath the car of the exposed turbo while the dump pipe was off Senator's car.

It's been discussed before where some members were trying to fit a Perrin, Cobb, etc dump pipe made for the North American Legacy onto their Liberty and wondering if it would fit. Folks like Dave (GTSPECB STI) and Phat would always say no because of the LHD configuration, yet there are people who still insists on it anyway. Well, here's the money shot.

As Phat explained it to me, the RHD cars like the ones for Japan and Australia, the steering link sits right smack behind the turbo (albeit a bit off centre). Any dump pipe made for our Libertys would have to account for that and work it's way around it.

Since the North American Legacys are LHD, the steering link is on the other side, thus there is no obstruction behind the turbo. So their dump pipes would just come straight back without the need to work around the link.

Trying to fit such a dump pipe onto the Liberty would probably collide with the steering link. Since I'm no mechanic, I hope I explained that correctly.

** UPDATE AS OF SATURDAY APRIL 4TH **

Spoke with Phat and he was hard at work all day. The jig for the auto dump pipe is ready. Come Monday the exhaust place will pump out a number of dump pipes for both manual and auto. Then it's off to be ceramic coated and ready to ship by mid to late this week. It will continue to roll out next week as well.

Since folks have been waiting a long time for these dump pipes, Phat's put the priority in getting these out straight away.

Versions

Manual - Phat has designed this to work with the stock centre pipe and with an aftermarket catback exhaust system.

Auto - This dump pipe has been designed to only work with one or the other (stock or aftermarket). Since 6 out of the 7 auto buyers are ordering the entire Phat system anyway, this should not be a problem. However there's 1 Auto person who's running HiTech mufflers but I don't know if he has a custom high flow centre pipe or not so I need to know which version to send out (this means you James!!! :D).

Great news with the update Jim.

However, I've noticed you've still got me down as a manual wagon, but in fact it's an auto. Could you please ensure that I'm in the right queue for these dumps. Thanks again :)
