Tenzo R's - Sizing

Postby Sentinel » Thu Apr 02, 2009 3:01 pm

Hi guys,

Need some guidance!

Got an 07 GT-B wagon, coilovers on the way, looking to buy some nice wheels. Found the Tenzo R - Type M's in 19x8.5 +45 offset. Not running Brembo's, nor will I in the future.

Been quoted on tyres - 225/35/19.

Two questions which everyone asks, and yes I've read through about 70 posts on this topic but none of them apply to my sizing so:
1. with a low car, will the wheels fit, and
2. will the tyres fit or will I need to roll guards?

Cheers

Hi mate,
The Tenzos are made buy lenso, correct? well i have a set of lenso wide track 18x8 +45 offset (im pretty sure) wrapped in R18/40/225 on my 2.5i (pic in the photo section some where) and my car is lowered with coil overs. the rears are fine, pretty snug fit though, but i think that looks good IMO the fronts however do scrub a little, i would like to go a little lower on the front but cant untill i get off my @ss and organise to get the guards rolled. if the tenzos are 8.5" wide +45 i think you may have some complications. not 100% sure but yeh hope that helps :D

Thanks Matty,

Yes, Tenzo are made by Lenzo. I've spoken with two tyre places and both have said they'll fit, but I'm concerned that they'll tell me anything to get a sale...

I'll lookup your car now.

Cheers

Should fit mate... how low you will be able to go will depend on how much -ve camber you're willing to run!

The only thing I would double-check is the load rating on the tyres, I only mention it because my new wheels arrived today and I have had to go with a 235 wide tyre because the load rating on the 225 is only 88 and the GT-B's require an 89 load rating!

That's a good point jimmy. I'll check in the morning!

Did you go 19 or 18's?

I had the opposite when looking for tyres last year. Asked a couple of dealers about 225/45's and got quick "nah, they'll rub on your car" responses. Then again, with the price of the bloody obscure 215/45R18's maybe they were looking to get a bit more money out of me

I was also told that if I wents 18x8's in the same wheel - I'd no probs with rubbing no matter how low I went. Given the cost of the 19's - might be a viable option, but I just love the look of a big wheel under the Lib!!

Boo hoo...

OK - can't fit up the M-types without spending a fortune to get the load rating!

So back to the drawing board... Hmmm, prefer 19's... So went looking again today and found some HR's so might do a bit of research into them and get some pricing on Monday.

Thanks for your help guys.

I'll post up a new thread with pics on what I end up buying.

Cheers
