Looking to buy a Liberty GT

Postby daniel » Sat Mar 21, 2009 11:16 pm

Hi,

Hoping to become a Liberty owner in the close future. But I have a few questions before I make the plunge.

I have 30k to spend, can push another few k's if I really like something.

Should I get
a. my06 Liberty tuned by STI
b. my07 Liberty GT (spec B?)

Looking at manual and in a sedan version. Resale is extremely important, as I am in the market for an investment property and it maybe (hopefully not) sold within a year or so.

I am not after power mods, maybe some suspension mods in future.

I have looked at carsale prices for both cars, both are advertised from 35k+. However from googling and reading some forums, it seems that they are realistically selling for closer to 30k, am I correct in this regard? Is going to look at the models on carsales listed for 35k+ and offering 30k a waste of both their time and mine?

Thanks, hopefully I can get one soon =D

If you're not looking to modify it, the MY06 Liberty STi is a good platform to have. There are already non-stock mods on that will make ownership a pleasure. Otherwise if you're keen to do your own mods from scratch, the MY07 GT-B should be a serious consideration. Good luck!

Hmmm.. Both models have their merits!

The MY06 TB STi is not a great deal different to the regular GT(mostly cosmetic differences). But it does have the 2LT which some prefer!?

Stepping up to the MY07 Spec B will get you a 6 speed manual, the 2.5T motor and the facelifted front and rear ends!

Personally, I just picked up a Spec B and am stoked with it so I may be somewhat biased! ;)

Price wise, it is definitely a buyers market and there are some pretty awesome deals going around, but $30k is gonna have to be a pretty damn cheap sale!
