aftermarket panel filter gains

Postby 541NTT » Wed Feb 25, 2009 10:15 am

hey gang

did a search, didnt find an answer.

well money is tight at the moment, but im itching to do something more than just washing to the gt, so i was thinking of going an aftermarket "performance" panel filter of some kind, just wondering if its worth doing to a stock my04 gt?

are there any real gains or is it really just best to save my pennies for a while?

Sorry to hijack your thread mason_luke. I'd like to add a couple of questions to yours as i am thinking about doing the same thing.

Will there be an increase in induction noise? (I hope so!)
Will the ECU adjust for the airflow, or do i need a retune? (MY07 GTB)
Cheers
Al

Yes an aftermarket panel filter should create a noticeable induction noise, well compared to stock that is.

And nope simply changing the panel filter should not require a retune.

I've got an HKS filter that is surplus to my requirements.

Prefer Brisbane buyer offering beer.

Naw. I'm just lonely and like PM'ing Adam. :D Besides, it's not physically possible to go back to panel filter setup anymore for me.

Let's get rid of the placebo.

Panel filter upgrade will make a SLIGHT change in induction noise to be louder.

You will not gain any performance difference, it sounds meaner so you'd think it goes harder, but the gains are negligible.
