Wasn't aware this was the protocol here. If that's the way it's preferred on this forum, happy to work with it. In future, why not create the group buy and technical thread up front and link it in the first post? Might avoid spamming up the sales thread with technical content/discussion.

Also good to see the thread back on topic now too. Well done boys.

PS: Appreciate everyone referring to me in the third person. At least Arith had the guts to have a direct go. Now, back to your latte sipping discussions.

I just spoke with Google and they said any more references to 'muffs', 'phat muffs', 'hairy muffs', 'clinging muffs', 'loud muffs', 'I can't wait to get my hands on those muffs', and/or 'muff diving' and they'll have to re-classify this forum as Adult Content on their search engine. :P

All, I've spoken with Phat today and he said the jig should be completed by today or tomorrow. Once that's done production will begin as of Monday and we should start seeing production versions early next week.

Since this is costing him money out of pocket up front, he needs people who are genuinely committed to buying a set to make a deposit as soon as you can. I will be PM'ing the folks who have not paid a deposit yet. Sorry to the folks who offered to pay a deposit and I told them to belay payment until the mufflers are ready. But the deposit money will reflect the true number of sets to be made (and give anyone with doubts or 2nd thoughts a chance to bail). Thanks guys.

Hi Arith,

Again - Thank you for organizing this. I think I can speak on behalf of everyone who's put a deposit down - WE CAN'T WAIT!!~~

Do we have a final price for Phat's mufflers?
How do we go about paying the remainder amount?

As far as I know, the price is still set at $800. If there is a fluctuation of some kind the most I can see is +$20.

As for the remainder, you can settle that with the Phat man when you pick up, or he or I will send you details on a direct deposit if it's being shipped.

everything you post in threads involving mike reads like sarcasm wrapped in superiority.
since you claim to have every ones interest at heart and the knowledge of how things should work best, perhaps you should come up with your own design.
lets see what you got craig.. prove that you're not a google mechanic?

Arith, any chance of linking the general discussion thread to the first post?
Not sure if you're a mod either, but may even be worth while chopping all the inappropriate posts from this thread into that as well (would tidy it up a bit).

Sorry dude. Although that discussion has some relevance to Phat's mufflers, it's more legislation and ADR talk and does not relate to the group buy.

However it will make more sense to have people read through the posts first, and if they are interested in further talks to jump over to your link.

Sorry, we'll all under the dictatorship of King Ric. :P But I think things didn't get off-topic too much and removing posts may not be necessary.

I just spoke with Phat and the results for his mufflers are quite positive. A monster MY07 STi that Phat has been modifying and sports Phat's full setup (mufflers, dump pipe, 3" centre, x2 resonators, etc) just had a tune the other day, and resulted in 262kw atw. This is with 17 psi of boost (full boost comes on at 3,180 RPM and stays at 17 psi to redline). This is an extremely great result considering there are no engine mods like headers or cams. Only bigger turbo, ignition upgrade, front mount, custom turbo inlet pipe, and a few other goodies. But the engine itself is completely stock.

In any case, measurements were taken and there was 11.1 psi of manifold pressure (before the turbo). After the turbo, the back pressure was virtually zero. The instruments couldn't pick up any back pressure, which is of greatest benefit to the turbos. Meanwhile at idle, the exhaust noise was near stock levels due to the x2 resonators (3" straight through) and well designed mufflers. But open it up a bit and the exhaust note is still there as normal with still no drone inside the cabine. This is an excellent stealth mod for those worried about noise levels and attracting unwanted attention (while idle).

Jig should be done by today and we should start seeing a few mufflers by mid-next week. The 1st batch will go to those who have volunteered their time and effort.
