Yeah... I am abit skeptical too. I filled up when it was showing 7.8L and the distance to empty screen was showing 820km -> empty.

By my calculations, it seems just abit off.

How much fuel was left in the tank? What sort of driving had you been doing in the previous 5 minutes?

Or was that the first figure it showed when you filled it up? If so, 820km equates to burning 64l (a full tank) at 7.8l/100km

On the trip to Melbourne, we got 7.6L/100 according to the computer.

Overall average according to the computer (I don't reset trip meter B) is around 10.x L/100km I think, the trip into work and back every day is really crappy stop-start stuff, of our ~30km trip, the last 20km takes roughly an hour

Before the Melbourne trip it was mid 11's or low 12's, can't remember.

When I got it back from Subaru after its last service it was sitting on 46...

nah, 64 according to my owner's manual

Gen 3's I think are 60 litres though.

Ahhh in that case 820 makes sense.

That is pretty much an entire trip from Sydney to Melb on one tank. Impressive.

Best for the 3RB 7.6L/100 Sydney to Griffith Worst 16L/100 with 1000kg boat full of fishing crap and beer with 4 x 80-100kg blokes Sydney to Coffs and 15L/100 on the trip home no beer or fish :lol:

Best recorded tank for my 3.0R-B manual is 8.7l/100km. If I'd had the guts to drive all the way home on that trip, it would have been high 7's.

I've found the trip computer to always overstate the average fuel economy reading for a given tank... except on long trips where it's usually spot on!

Cruising on the freeway, the instant ave consumption readout often reads low 7's.

This is an interesting discussion with some interesting numbers.

I'm an MY08 GTB with V-Tune. Have almost done 25,000kms.

I often drive from Melbourne to Sale (200kms), or at-least part of the way.

If I'm really careful and stick to 100kmh indicated (which is probably really only about 94) I get around 6.4 - 6.5 per 100.

If I drive normally at around 105-110 indicated, definitely no more than 7.3-7.5.

Around town if I drive normally and not firewalling it, around 10-11. Worst I have seen is 13.5 average but it was all stop start.

Mudgee to Albury, 594 km today with the aircon on hard and an electric fridge running in the back.
(high 30's temperature most of the way)

8.6 l/100km

Back from a small get away....

Travelling on the freeway in both I and S# mode I just couldn't get it down past 7.8L... oh well, that must be the best my car can do :shock:

I can't underestimate the effect that the V-Tune has. One of the reasons why I got the V-Tune is because I was told that my car would use less fuel.

Does anyone know if it would make a difference between an auto and manual?
