Fuel Efficiency for Libs

Postby WhiteGTB » Thu Jan 22, 2009 11:09 am

Just wondering what the lowest litre per 100km anyone has achieved in their Liberty GTB or 3RB.

I achieved 7.8L/p 100km but couldn't get any lower.

I think I was down in the mid 7's (7.4, 7.6, 7.8 - can't remember) when we got into Goulburn a couple of weekends ago.

By the time I filled it back up that night it was up to 8.2. Mind, once we left Goulburn, the roads ceased being long, straightish, constant speed highways

In my previous ride (3RB) I got 8.2l/100 average on a 1400km all highway trip - which I thought was great. I wasn't driving with fuel economy in mind. I struggle to get below 10l/100 at the moment in the GTB, but I rarely get a long highway run.

I am a bit skeptical about the accuracy of the trip computer - even with my simple maths ability my fuel usage and kms traveled don't seem to add up to what the trip computer tells me!

I can get 0l/100km But the car doesn't go very fast!

The fuel economy sucks in my cars.. lucky if I get sub 14l/100 city driving on the sedan, ~10l/100 country (and no, I'm not bouncing of the rev limiter!)

Wagon is about 12/100 city.. 8/100country

On a run I've had 8.5/100 but round town (short runs) it's between 12 and 15/100. :(

standard daily driver stuff it hovers around 12.8 - 13.4 (that's with the HKS panel filter and air guide)

highway driving for 60% of the tank I managed to push it down to 8.2

got a trip meter that I dont reset and the running average is 11.4L/100. Although country drives I could expect around 9.6-10L/100 (depends on how many road trains I need to pass ;) )

Best I managed was 8.2L according to the computer.

Generally for city use, my car sits between 13-15L per 100kms.

As of Tuesday night I had done 6465km since the first time I filled the car up. Average economy to date is 10.3l/100km. I'd say a bit less than a quarter of that has been country/highway driving

fuel fig

Postby Dave E » Thu Jan 22, 2009 1:44 pm

When I purchased my Auto GT-B, I was avg 12-14s for the first few weeks (less than 500 km on the odo at that time) Then almost overnight my figs dropped to the 8s. ECU adapting I guess??. Best I have achieved is 6.5 (tailwind) Toowoomba to Brissy. I have averaged 7.2 to 7.0 over the last year easily in my weekly commuting to Brissy. for a Turbo not 2 shabby IMO. :D

Yeah... I am abit skeptical too. I filled up when it was showing 7.8L and the distance to empty screen was showing 820km -> empty.

By my calculations, it seems just abit off.
