Possible convert?

Hey all,

My name's Chris and I currently drive a black, fast, low and loud HSV Y series clubsport thats been cammed and tuned etc etc. I'm starting to get a bit concerned about the way the car makes me behave, I find myself driving like a dick then thinking I shouldn't have done it so I've put it up for sale and my next car of choice at this stage is a MY06 Liberty 3.0 RB I just can't get over how good they look and how well Suby's are put together - my fiance has a My05 RS Impreza and its a fantastic car, hasn't given any trouble and still drives like brand new even though its over 4 years old!

i came out of a worked vy ss, you might not get the initial push of power, but the fact that you can keep your down in and out of corners ..... is the best part...... and the build quality.

btw a gt might be more fun if you plan to mod it

Do it. You won't believe the difference in the interior. The Spec B (3litre or GT) interior shits all over the Holdens/HSV/Fords.

Welcome Chris! That's quite a big difference in philosophy between the Holden's and the Subaru's. Hope you can also find some satisfaction from a Liberty without the 'd*ckhead' factor. But if you browse through the forum, you'll see that the Liberty is not entirely devoid of mods.

But yeah, give both the 3.0 and the turbo'd GT a test drive before deciding. The 3.0 is great but the GT may be better suited to your driving style. Good luck!

Thanks for the positive encouragement and advice guys I appreciate it. Be interested to see if anyone else has converted over from Holden/Ford performance cars to a Liberty.

Yep another convert here, I grew up around muscle cars... mates/rellies had things like a 8 sec tubbed 351 Capri, a Centura that was the fastest 6 cylinder in Qld at the time, a Torana with 11½" of blower and carbs sticking out of the bonnet, my brother currently has a VYII SV8 that sounds like it'd be remarkably similar to yours and is (eventually...) putting a twin turbo Lexus V8 into his old VH SL/E. I nearly spent a stack of cash on an old VC Commodore, then decided to upgrade and nearly bought a near-new VS SS and a couple of turbos (ended up buying a Skyline instead). These would be/are all fun but only good at one thing, and horribly compromised at anything else.

IMHO you'll struggle to find a better all-rounder than the Liberty! And as mentioned, the build quality is exceptional.

get rid of it...you will never go back

Welcome mate.

I'm sure you'll be happy with a Liberty mate. They are a much more composed car when compared to Holdens & Fords.

To give you an idea of their potencial, my cars got *cough* a few mods & she's faster then a VY Senator & my mate who has a VE Senator thinks my is damn near as quick, but a heap more fun one the turbo get going

hey chris,i was in the same situation as you before i got my liberty,but it wasnt a ford or holden that i was changing over from it was a hyundai sonata.
and i havent looked back since :lol:

My brother has owned Holden's all his life and in fact were off to the dealership today to set him up with a subie. You will miss a few things from your holden but as others have said, i think the liberty is a better all rounder.
