Screeching belt

Postby 2fast4u » Fri Jan 16, 2009 1:51 pm

ive started to notice when I back out of the driveway and turn the wheel to get onto the street that im getting a screeching type sound from Im guessing the power steering. The fluid levels are fine . Just wondered if it would simply need a tighten . Do the Subys have a separate power steering belt ?

it doesnt seem to do it once the cars warmed up.

From what I can see from the manual, they have two belts. 1 drives air con compressor only while the other drives the alternator, power steering pump and anything else in there. The belt you want to get at is fortunately the front one and shouldn't require removal of the air con drive belt

It seems entirely random. Has happened 3 times all up . Hasnt happened again since I started the thread on it.

When It was happening it started before full lock but I took it to full lock as well.

Will tighten the belt and see what happens.
