Car Colour & Wheel Colour

Postby WhiteGTB » Sat Jan 17, 2009 11:31 pm

Been abit of talk around wheels colours to suit the car colour and just wanted to see what the general thoughts are on the subject.

Feel free to add what you think is nice and what isn't.

Black Car - Black Wheels = Mean Looking, total stealth
Black Car - Light Wheels = Looks good, general look
White Car - Light Wheels = Looks good, general look
White Car - Black Wheels = Mean Looking, racer look
Silver Car - Black Wheels = Mean Looking
Silver Car - Light Wheels = Looks good

Basically the difference between light or dark wheels. What is the trend these days?

Notice I didn't mention Chromie's :) not that I have anything against them.... but some ppl just don't dress them right. Some however... are just blardy beautiful!

If you had a choice on your own car, what would you put?

I like the naked aluminium look on wheels - just paint stripped off, and cleaned up, not polished. Personally, I reckon they look good on just about any colour car.

I reckon the standard metallic grey on the 06 spec b wheels looks good with Atlantic blue :D

Wouldn't mind knowing what the gold looks like but not willing to fork out the $$$ when I am quite happy with the current setup

I just wanna go to a tyre shop and have them bring some black rims down so i can place them next to the car so I can see what it looks like.

But I'd Go Black Rims :)

Gotta agree with ultrablue on the polished lip for a black wheel. Black car and black wheels are nice and stealthy, but when the car is nice and low, the aggressive appearance and 'wow factor' comes from seeing the fender sitting just right off the rim. But when you have black on black, it all gets blended in and at a glance, you're not sure where the car ends and the wheels begins. The polished lip adds the border to separate the two entities and thus return that all important 'off the rim' appearance. Contrast is good. So a white car with all black/dark coloured wheels would be good.

And yes, it's an issue I face at the moment. I think the car is sitting pretty low, but since the dark Connoisseur's blend into the body colour, I still get asked if the car has been lowered and do I plan to lower the car at any point. :?
