K2 Gear Carbon Fiber Subaru Emblem

Postby Arith » Sat Jan 17, 2009 9:21 pm

Before the Rice Police come around and bash me up, I have to admit this is a pure rice and wank modification. But I love it, so I regret nothing! :P

Those of you who know me know I hate any visible carbon fiber on the outside of the car. However what annoys me more is not being able to keep a consistent theme to the car. Have a blue Subaru emblem where there is no blue anywhere on the car bothered me. So I finally bit the bullet and splurged for a K2 Gear carbon fiber Subaru emblem. I think this is subtle enough not to be so apparent.

Image

This replaces the 6 start Subaru emblem on the boot, and has a carbon fiber background instead of the checkered blue. Here they are side by side. The factory Subaru emblem is the top one for those of you that are legally blind.

The original emblem is a huge pain to remove. Needless to say I did some awful things to pry it out. Luckily the new badge covers up the same area.

Here's the emblem on the car. A very subtle change in my opinion. I think only a real Subaru enthusiast would be able to spot that it's not the factory original, and that's only if he's into the little details like I am.

Haha Jim, you won't believe how many times i have been so tempted to get that emblem! The blue background also annoys me and i have a scratch on the current emblem which i have been meaning to replace. Just out of interest, could you quickly go through how you pried the original emblem out?

Haha. For me, I opted to be the test guinea pig for the group (well that and I couldn't wait for Phat), so I ordered mine through JapanParts.

But I recommend getting them through Phat, Danny, when he returns to ordering stuff from Japan after this month. It'll be cheaper.

I dunno man, that's a lot of work and effort with a good chance you'll break something along the way. But I think unless you're going for Pearl white, if you do a black, red, or pink background they sell imitation ones with those colours for $5 on eBay.

So dooooooo iiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do Pearl White! I think you'll be the only one in Australia, with that!

Haha. See my post above yours, Mano! But as chance would have it, I did end up buying the black one (like the one pictured above) a long time ago but never put it on. You want it?
