I believe so. At roughly half the price though, the 4000's will do just fine. Unless you are going to race your baby transporter

Arith I think uses/used Hawk ceramic, Suff seems to know a bit about brake pads and such too. Ferodo's were mentioned on Tuesday night, as were Project Mu

Adam, they are seriously good rotors and dissipate heat incredibly well. I used to use them to prevent cooking wheel bearings.

They are also complete overkill unless you are driving it very, VERY hard with some very serious pads.

I currently use Ferodo DS2500s, which I suspect would be a minimum to justify spending that much on the rotors.

When I was using DBA5000s, they were only put on for track work and had a dedicated set of track pads.

I'd suggest the money could be better spent elsewhere, but they do look purdy.

coyote, i really appreciate your advice. the reason i liked the 5k over the 4k's is the 2 piece aspect. is this not really an advantage for the 2-3 track days i hope to do a year? i also hope to get braided lines, better fluid and in the long run, better calipers. on that, what fluid would you suggest?
when we went to wakefield last year i found that the most disappointing thing, and the thing i lacked confidence in more and more as the day wore on was my brakes.

I have the DBA5000 rotors for my front brakes at the moment.

Using Hawk Ceramic pads. I had Ferodo DS2000 earlier.

The Hawks started off good. Their grip was better than the OEM ones that came with the Brembos, but less than the Dixcels. Brake dust was very little and they were virtually silent. However after about 8000 km, they are still quiet but brake dust started to be a problem. It was like driving through a dust storm even for the shortest trips.

So I had the Dixcels put back on. Because I'm running Dixcel rotors as well, it's a good combination that provides good grip. And no more brake dust. Let's hope it stays that way.

Just to avoid creating a new thread on a similar topic, I also have a rotor question.
What are front/rear rotor sizes for the 04/05 2.5i Liberty? I couldnt find it in the manual, and just having a quick look, i would say 290mm for the front and 280mm for the back?

Going from the US Legacy workshop manual I have, 24 x 277 front and 10 x 274 rear

Haha. Don't know of any brake pads that produce a dusty cloud of smoke when you brake.

But yeah, I meant that the wheels got dusty very quickly. Had to clean them almost daily!
