PS: is it just me or are the screws that holds the lens cover for the numberplate lights a bi@ch to get off?!?!

Parkers are a real pain to change... Especially if your car has the stock air box.

I landed up having to move the battery & removing the air box to install my parkers... Of course, if you have rather small hands, it's a big deal :P

Maybe it's a job for the Mrs mate...

I just replacedthe parkers with leds and the tailgate numberplate lights with leds as well. My car is Atlantic blue and the blue leds look great and compliment the colour.

It was tough doing the passenger side cos of the battery (I loosened the battery clamp) and forced my hand in there .

Driver side was a lot easier . I just removed the air intake guide thingy( 2 plastic screws)

The tailgate was fiddly but if I can do it anyone can.

Thanks go to Tangcla for the leds.

In my MY04 Wagon there are 2 screws in each lens cover. And yes they are hard to get out.

Im glad im not the only one who thought that.

I have done the parkers in both my MY05 and my MY07, and I have never had to remove any screws from the lights..

Just the airbox and battery.. (pig of a thing to do, but small hands are very handy!)

Guys, the rear number plate lights are accessed via screws and plastic cover on the outside for the wagon, and behind the lining on the inside for the sedan.

Access to the screws can be difficult for the wagon, and requires an extra long screw driver. Plus the screws themselves are quite long so you have to be patient.

The sedan merely needs to pop out like 4 fasteners and you can reach your arm through the liner to replace the bulbs. Just twist and pull.

Arith.. I am surprised you didn't use this as further justification of the superiority of sedans!

yes a long screwdriver would have made it sooo much easier. Anyway a bit of patience (yeah those screws are pretty long) and it makes for a quick cheap mod.

Haha. In this case the winner is the wagon! :P

Why? The sedan bulbs have to fit through the metal opening where the plug is. So one cannot use a larger than normal LED bulb for the plate lights.

For light coloured cars, this is usually adequate lighting. However for dark coloured vehicles, there's barely enough illumination to display the plates, especially if the plates are black as well. :?

Since the wagon allows for the entire cover plate to open and you plug in the bulb from the outside, you can use a larger sized LED. Or even one of those LED plates that have like 9 or 15 rows of LED's. Something like this:

This would illuminate the plate much better than a smaller LED.
