BL5 Rear wiper conversion

Rear glass arrived yesterday, got it fitted (hole has been bogged for the time being) and everything is in place for now, just waiting to order the wiper and bits now.

Things I need:

* Windscreen washer pump: check, that's in Sydney at the moment
* ( Windscreen washer bottle: spare, just in case I fook something up )
* Wiper bits: check, it's being freighted from Japan as we speak

I should have some updates in a few weeks' time, I'm flat out with photography on weekends for Jan and the first half of Feb so I won't have time to tinker until then.

To do:
* Determine wiper motor wiring. I found a plug under the parcel shelf, not sure if that's for the bootlid spoiler or washer pump (funnily enough, I will be needing both plugs soon :lol:

)
* Run vacuum hose for water
* Test!

Yeah, I have to make a hole in it... ideally if I got a bottle from a wagon then I can just swap it straight over - but at least this way, I will have a spare bottle in case I drill a hole too big

Wouldn't you... drill the hole small first an then test an see on the way? an if needs bigger you would go next size up? :lol:

That's my intention...

but if things don't quite go according to plan...

Anyway, FYI - new prices from Subaru for the water pump is $86, and the bottle is $75.

just curiuos..
why did you go to japan for a rear wiper when a wagons is the same..all the parts you needed except the rear glass is the same as a wagon and would have been available here in oz....

just had a look at my rear wiper and the wires come from the drivers side of the car and drop down throught the parcel shelf....maybe they are pushed up in there on your car......shane

I wasn't sure if the wiper was the same - I didn't have access to a wagon to be wrecked so I couldn't pinch the bits at the time.

I certainly hope the rear wiper wires are in the parcel shelf! I'm going to be doing some digging once the bits arrive

Update:
* Rear wiper and motor is fitted. Looks fine from the outside, all the parts required are here, in no particular order, with Subaru part numbers:

86510AG101: WIPER ASSY R 4D
86538AG030: COVER R 4D
86538AG060JC: COVER WIPER SHAFT
86542AG110: BLADE 400
86514AC000: SPECIAL NUT
904586011: TAPPING SCREW (x2)
86548AC040: CUSION A ASSY
902170045: NUT M6
86640AG100: NOZZLE HOSE ASSY 4D
86532AG100: WIPER ARM
86535AG030: CAP

Bad news... there's no wiring for the wiper motor :cry:

it's a 4-pin connector - two of which are for ground - so I have to figure out what the other two wires do, and how to connect that to the wiper stalk.

So, to do list (updated):

* Need to acquire washer pump - previous seller fell through
* Need to run vacuum line for water
* Need to fire out this stupid f##king wiring!

I'm guessing one will be power for the rear wiper, one will be for the rear washer... but not sure why that would be ON the motor??
