2004 GT? WAGON for Auction at Pickles Adelaide

Hi All,

This may be of interest to someone.

Ive just noticed that there is a nice silver 2004 Wagon for Auction this morning at Pickles in Adelaide. Check out the pictures.

Has this been wrongly identified as a 2.5 where is should be a 2.0 GT???? I thought that a bonnet scoop meant turbo unless someone has put on a retro fitted bonnet. Are there any other ways of identifying it from the exterior?

I found another car similar here in Adelaide the other day. Its a white wagon with a 2.5 non turbo and a bonnet scoop. The chap there said that the touring wagon came out with a bonnet scoop?????

If this pickles car has been mis-identified it might go for a bargain. Its un registered and has a cracked front windscreen. I think its up for auction this morning.

I wish I had the time to get out there and have a look in person.

I dont see any pics ?

Are there pics of the engine bay. Can you see a big plastic engine cover and a Top Mount Intercooler?.

It can be very hard to tell from the exterior but the front brakes on a GT are 316mm ( I think) much bigger than non GT.

Looking at the interior I see McIntosh, Momo wheel, climate. I wouldn't be surprised if it is a GT, though all of that gear (I think) was also on the 2.5 Premium

Unless the 2.5L had gear change buttons on the steering wheel than that is a GT.

the 2.5 premium does not have a MacIntosh stereo or steering wheel controls, just looked on Redbook to confirm, although climate control is standard on all Liberty models, so it must be a GT... wonder how much it'll go for?

Yeah,

Its very frustrating knowing that it is half an hour up the road but Im stuck at work. Id love to head out there and give it the once over.

With those sort of Kms on it and being wrongly listed as normally aspirated 2.5 and unregistered and sporting a broken front windscreen, it could be a good score for someone knows their stuff....even with those kms on it, you might a have a good saving to cover a new engine in a couple of years if required.

Im not sure how much you can check the cars out at these auctions though...I think you can hear them running but you cant really get an idea of the running gear, compression etc etc so it would be a bit of a gamble.

Didnt you say it was being put up for auction this morning.

It is a gamble when you cant actually drive it but the km on it should also bring its selling price down somewhat and if its any guide I just bought one with 122k on the clock and it drives very well(not from an auction tho).Its solid and with no rattles at all.

The prices of these has fallen a huge amount. Even the insurance companies havnt adjusted to it. I paid 22k and my insurance cover is for 29k. And mine is a standard GT, not even a premium.

Yeah rthe whole auction starts at 10am I think but there are hu8ndreds of vehicles to get through so it may not be featured until this afternoon at some stage.

Yeah, the prices are dropping fairly heavily on cars across the board which is good for us as buyers. Im trying to sell a house at the moment but willhopefuuly be in the maket for a GT wagon soon. Because its a good safe car with subaru reliablity and reputation I shouldnt have too much trouble snaking the turbo past the misses.........she wont know what the bonnet scoop is ( its just for letting insects out of the engine bay so they dont get hurt darling) and the turbo whistle ( thats just the air bags making sure they are ready to go if we need them darling).

you can always find out what time roughly they would be auctioning this vehicle.

there is a rough order they follow... having been there a few times you could get some rough idea on he car prior to it going to auction, if you can get in quick enough or know someone there.. :wink:

Nah, im too scared to find out.......

It was just what Im looking for ( except for the high kms) and it was just up the road. Ive been keeping an eye on pickes for months and this snuck in under the radar at the last moment. I checked the Friday before the Monday Auction and it wasnt there.
