Buying my first Subaru GT MY04 Tuesday

Postby hxa01 » Sat Jan 10, 2009 11:00 am

Hi to all at the club i am a new Hopefully Liberty owner

You all have great looking cars which is what made me decide to buy a Liberty now.

The car that i am picking up from the dealer on Tuesday is a Subaru Liberty GT MY04 Premium Pack 112000 KLMs.
I test drove the car and goes very well but on the dash the ABS,Engine light and a flashing Cruise control light was on.

The dealer told me that it is because the battery was flat, (he did jump start it for the test drive). and he wil fix it.

What do you guys think and what to look out for as i have no idea about these cars

Welcome HXA01 !

I do hope those telltale lights were only coming on because of a low/flat battery.

The amount of K's on that vintage of GT isn't a problem and as one of the other members here has already mentioned, PLEASE make sure the dealer provides PROOF that the 100,000 km service has been completed and the timing belt was replaced ! You don't want the bill of a major service on your hands or worse still, bent valves etc if the old timing belt wasn't replaced and it lets go !

I've only just picked up my MY05 3.0R this week and before then I had a look at a couple of MY04 GT's too and they were fun to drive, but I had to consider how many speeding fines I would attract with it.

Anyway, welcome aboard and hope it all goes well for you on Tuesday !

Welcome to the forum mate! & congrats on the new purchase! I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.

Just becareful, if the engine light is on & the cruise control light is flashing, that means your O2 sensor is gooone.

As your car has fairly high km's on it (Although it's about right for it's age) make sure you run good oils & keep it well serviced.

So what's first on your modding list? ;)
