Another Subaru (lack of service) story

gotta love it..........

car is in at Subaru for the oil pipe fix...and at the same time i told them about loud squeak the rear left was making all the time, not when braking..... i get a call back saying the rear pads a gone and the sound i am hearing is the sound of an indicator on pads :shock:

.........WTF was this guy thinking.....put the reefer down mate. :roll:

the sound is only coming from one side......... and it happens all the time and not just when braking

he then tells me that front pads a also thin and that the rotor might need to be replaced....as they a too thin for machining...... next they might tell me the engine is burning petrol and needs to be replaced......... :lol:

your car can't be more than 18months old...

tell them they can fix it all under warranty.

including replacing the engine.

7 months old....... brakes have been an issue from day one....... they grinded like hell at low speed........ and it was not only my car.... a few others had the issue.

sounds crazy to me, my car is 18 mths old and service last month indicated the pads were only down to the last 1/3.

+ 1 - OMG.. better get a 2nd opinion!! Looks like someone is trying to pull the wool over ya... the financial crisis must be biting hard for dealerships!!

Haha. There's a bit of merit in that, Tony. On my previous cars, the squealing noises I heard from the corners while not braking was due to the indicators rubbing. New pads fixed it. And yes, it can occur to one or both sides and doesn't have to make the noises during braking.

Considering you've tracked the cars several times already, it's no surprise your brakes are in that condition. We've even had one member wear down his new pads in 1 track day!

clearly people are really starting to hire second class mechanics..

mine was in at penrith today for the new knock sensor.. they seem ok.. so far..

not cool bout the probs tho, hope its sorted

ditto to what arith said, in my previous job i had the honda jazz company car and it started to make the horrible squealing noise just when the car was in motion, no braking, so i thought the car was just dodge, but when it got serviced, i was told there was no brake pad left.... changed to new ones and fixed the problem

well once i saw the pads .....it was quickly noted that one of the indicator was longer then the other, hence why only one wheel was making the sound........ new pads where fitted and rotor machined free of charge...... but this was after i had a rant to the service manager

it was clearly a defect in the pad, the one that was making the sound had alot more meat on it compared to other side which was not making any sound.

time for rotor and pad update.

Well this is a service tale and this time my fault.....
Sent the wife to work with the car today to get the recall issue done 1st thing at SVM
Rings me up "they did the thingy, all good so put the clamp on and only tooke about 40 mins "
" They raved about the sound it made (with the dump 3" and Hitechs)"
Oh right I said nothing negative about the dump?
"no no all good"
She still sounded a bit negative
So whats wrong
"well I didnt think they would do it so I didnt tell them....They washed it(long silence..... I dont thinkits swirled...... trails off
For anyone with just normal sense they would be happy to have a wash after a recall and 20 min fix up, but for those that know me AAAARRRRGGGG

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......... i now get them to write on the service sheet no wash and then highlight it........

Heh-heh. I feel for ya, Pete, especially since I know you hate the generic car wash where they're using wash mitts from 1978. When I went for servicing last week I went out back, found the car wsh area, and made sure my car never came near it after it was finished with the servicing.

mine went in for a 10 minute job for the sensor replaced, and it got washed..

i only washed the bloody thing two days ago, perhaps my rubber wasnt black enough ha ha..

i thought all that courtesy stopped when your warranty run out
