Introduce yourself

not a Subaru Liberty virgin!

Postby hieu1976 » Sat Dec 30, 2006 9:15 am

hey guys/girls!

thought I'd introduce myself. I *was* going to buy a Mitsubishi EVO9, but decided it was too hardcore and lacking in the luxury department, so instead I've just picked up a black Liberty GT 2005 model with 7,500kms on the clock. I plan to run her in for another few months to check for any defects, then start modifying her.

I'm actually staying in hotels and driving back from Brisbane now after picking the car up! In fact, i spent most of the night on the internet searching for Liberty GT modifications! haha

Looking forward to getting to know you all. Here are my vital stats:

Name: Hieu
Ride: 2005 Liberty GT black
Location: Canberra/Sydney
Mod: Bog stock standard for now
Plans: Hyperflow TMIC, Exhaust, ECUTek, CAI/filter, suspension, STi rear/front lip (or aftermarket front end). Then might chase 200kw atw with larger turbo, UP/DP if the bug bites!
Occupation: IT Solution Architect
Year of birth: 1976
Previous Rides worth a mention:
* Liberty B4: MRT ECUTek, exhaust/CAI
* Lancer GSR: Tony Rigoli prepared 2L 4G63T 12.0sec quarter
* Legacy GT Wagon
* RX7 S3, 13B Turbo, mildport, 3mm seals, S5 hiflow turbo, Microtech MTX8 tuned by Ric Shaw

Welcome Hieu
Good luck with the car. I hope there's no problems, so you can dive straight into it. Any idea why the previous owner sold?

Hey Ric
the bastard was upgrading to an E46 M3! :) He'd just got a work promotion

the previous owner rarely drove the car, as he travelled overseas frequently for work (and had another car).. I paid $45K for it - not too bad for an as-good-as-new car. I considered the cheaper $40Kish cars, but I'd prefer something with lower kms.

Hi Hieu,

I made that same decision and I ended up with the exact same car as you. I got mine from Toowoomba from a guy who has just bought a BMW also. Your story is kind of scary as it is the exact as mine. Anyway welcome and enjoy. The good thing is there are several knowledgable people here and heaps more intending to do mods that your interested in doing.

Cheers fellas.

BlackGT - what a scary coincidence :-)
I agonised over what car to buy for yonks.. funnily enough, i also considered the E46 M4, but at $80K, it was abit too much - and a supercharger plus other mods would've made it even more expensive... i think i'll just wait a couple years, then buy a 2nd hand 335i

XRCI5T - that's a damn fine Tuned by Sti you have.

I drove the car from Brissy to Port Macquarie today. So quiet, and pulls surprisingly harder than i thought. Getting used to the gearbox is going to take some time.. it's not as precise as i'd like.

Welcome mate!

Tough choice but you cant go past the luxury of the gt compared to the evo.

Nice list of rides you have there.
Cheers,

Rosso.

sounds good buddy.. just let me modify it abit before we do a cruise or something. I'm ordering the STi front lip and lip spoiler from japanparts as soon as they confirm the part numbers. Will fit King Spring Lows next week and get some Whiteline bits from PHAT GT when he returns from Japan.
