CITYLINK RIPOFF

Postby kaycy » Wed Dec 10, 2008 9:00 pm

I was driving on the southern link on citylink toll citybound from Chadstone on the 30th November at around 1745hrs, when I realised that motorists are being ripped off by citylink.

Usually the eTag beeps once at the toll gate but, my work car eTag beeped three times at the first toll cameras (gate), twice at the next then beeped where there was no toll cameras on the road I was travelling but on the other side and twice at the entry to the tunnel. This happened again about an hour later when I was driving eastbound towards Chadstone. This did not happen last weekend when I was driving on the same road. I wonder how much they ripped off from motorists that day.

Citylink operators do not get fined when there is unnecessary delays (accidents excepted) but Connex gets heavily fined every time one of it's trains run few minutes late.

That's why I don't like using Citylink. I don't like to pay tolls to sit bumper to bumper.

my 2 cents.

if i can't drive at least 80kmh on citylink. i shouldn't have to pay.

but i also think i should be paid a million dollars a day for my work.

doesn't happen..

How old is the tag?
Multiple beeps indicate a problem with the account. Last time it happened to me, they gave me a new etag and it fixed it.

Unsure how it all works down in Melb, but some etag brands here in Sydney beep multiple times to indicate the account balance is low.

maybe melbourne is different but here in sydney if my etag beeps three times it means my account balance is getting low (i think under $10) and needs a top up.. could be that

It's about two years old and it's on company account so there is no possiblity of a low credit in acc. If that was the case, it would have happened again last week, it did not and there was no beep on the same area with toll point on the other side. I guess they pointed one of the sensors or cameras on the cars coming in the opposite direction.

There was something about this sort of thing a few weeks back when I was hypnotised by subliminal advertising and made to watch today tonight (or the other one). Get them to check the account and pay your company back. apparently it happens a lot.
