Twin Turbo 3.0RB

Postby WhiteGTB » Wed Dec 03, 2008 6:36 pm

Happen to be talking to this guy who is about to carry out a twin turbo conversion on a 3.0RB last weekend.

He said he'd be using the WRX turbo's, small but enough to gain some good power. Said the engine is safe to run 8psi boost safely for everyday driving without touching the internals yet.

Guesstimate power gains he said would be easy 180-200kw ATW, conservative figures to say the least and about the $8k mark.

I dunno much about how much parts cost but does anyone know if this is a realistic cost? End to end, drive in, drive out.

Needless to say I am interested.... so will be dropping by more regularly to get updates.

I just dunno if the dollars add up.....

I'm waiting to see if that guy ends up paying over that mark cause he would have no choice once the work has started I'd think.

$8K sounds about right including labour, plus engineering/compliance perhaps, for a job done right.

the last time i checked, alot of the guys in the US (LGT forums) are poking at doing a 3.6L coversion and looking at doing a forced induction on it.

might be worth looking over there.
