How accurate is the trip computer?

Postby drndrn » Wed Nov 26, 2008 6:40 pm

How accurate is it? Because according to mine my average fuel consumption is between 9.6 -10.0L/100km's. But I get no more than 450k's before the fuel light comes on? Anyone care to shed some light?

Geez,

How did you get your's that low?

Mines a 2.5i manual, and I drive like an old folk with Premium unleaded fuel and I can't get it lower then 10.6 L/Km.

Do you drive much on the highways drndrn? Or where you don't have to stop for traffic lights and give way?

at 9.8L/100, you should be burning 44.1L of of fuel. so see hwo much you're actually filling up, cos i know with mine, even after the light comes on, there's still quite abit in there.

also, you might not be filling up to the full 64/65L capacity of the tank

Yeah well this morning I ran the car till it said I had zero or --- k's left. But I still had 8L left. Would that account for my 'missing' k's? I didn't take notice of how many K's were on the trip computer when I fulled up. I'd guess around 450-500

oh and no i don't do a lot of high way driving. Just suburban driving with the regular spirited driving. Regular being on a daily basis. :/ I honestly don't know how I keep it down that low. Hence asking how accurate it is. 'Cause sometimes I'll be going for a brisk drive and my average would actually go down. :S

I'm averaging 12-13/100 in accordance to the trip computer. And I pretty much gun it every chance I get. Even though I'm stock, the tune really helps the car not run so rich.
