READ THIS BEFORE DOING ANY TUNES FROM ANYONE[/co

Postby Libgtwagon » Sun Nov 23, 2008 7:28 pm

Hi all.
I had my GT tuned at MRT. While they are involved alot in Subaru's, it wasnt until I met Paul from Pulse Racing in Menai.

This guy is nothing but the best. When MRT did the Ecutek tune and I paid so much for it, it was nothing compared to what Paul had done. When the gears change (as its Auto) the rpm only drops 200rpm between each gear change. I am using less fuel and the car doesnt have a lag anymore.

I am running 193 real kilowattes atw's and its clean and safe.

I asked Paul about how he started and he said he worked with Tynans Subaru as the STI tuner. He worked for MRT and studied after in the USA.

So if you are serious about doing a CAI, exhaust and a tune, dont bother with anyone but Pulse Racing.

Check it out guys!

i posted a email about turbo making noise and no one could reply or fix the problem. Pulse did. :D :D [/b]

Libgtwagon.... there a quiet a few of us that know Paul and have had our cars tuned by him.

All you said is true :)

I was down there Friday, he now has a awd dyno which is a big bonus cause now he doesn't have to dyno cars at another place.

Thats a great kw at the wheel number you got there mate. I am curious to know what Nm torque figure he got for you? Dyno graph would be good to see if you have one as I am always interested to see what other tuners are getting out the Libs. I assume that Paul is running your A/F ratio in a safe range and no increase of boost either.

I like others have only used Paul with my Lib. Nothing but praise, doesn't rip you off on retunes and will spend literally all day answering all your questions.

I don't know what it is like now, with the 4wd dyno in house, but I know that he was dynoing the cars in V6turbo mode or similar, which gave my car a reading of 170 atw, yet on any other dyno 150 would be the max.

Apart from that car runs great with the tune, 850kms to a tank of fuel too

Very easy for dyno operators to give high power readings, it's all in the 'calibration'.

However, all things equal, dyno readings should only be used as a before/after comparison as to whether mods or tunes have made any impact. Big power readings doesn't necessarily mean you'll feel the difference on the road, it's two totally different things.

Different dynos with differrent braking systems also will give different results to real-world in-the-pants dyno, with the road, wind and weight resistance.

I've had good experience with Paul too - albeit over the phone :P Called him for some troubleshooting a few months ago, just needed to confirm something, quite helpful over the phone even though he was busy.

Agreed. I jumped on the dyno at IS Motors the week after my tune from Paul and it consistently showed 20kw less. Plus that max kw could be at a range that is not very useable, as my current tuner said he's seen a car with lower numbers solidly beat a car with big numbers.

Libgtwagon, any chance you could post up results, and if you wouldn't mind go into detail on what sort of tune he was able to perform on your car (OpenECU? Piggyback? Another ECU?).

And I know you're excited about your results but sorry, you sound like a paid infommercial.

Hi Andy I suggest you post your dyno graph results and make a believer out of us all.

As mentioned there are lot of variables involved in getting a good tune. A high kw figure can be achieved thru calibration and using a roller dyno but that tells on 10% of the story at best. When does your boost come on full and when does it peak and then how long can max boost be held.

Gents / Ladies: I dont know how your lifestyle is, but i have a family with 3 kids and I am always interstate working. So as much as I respect this website, I dont have the physical time to be on it. I heard about it through a freind and I made 2 posts. 1 where no-one has experiened and this one where I thought I would share with you all. Sometimes in life, we need to have faith in what people say. Or else life would be a disaster.

Now, i read in the FAQ section that I cannot insert images unless I have some hotmail address or whatever. IF you can shed some light on how to do it, please do and i will put the graph on.

I scanned it and its now on a card.

...

Have a look at HOW TO POST PICS ON THE FORUM

You don't need a Hotmail address, but you do need somewhere to post photos. The suggested website ( photobucket.com ) is free.
