New car is totally different so cant really compare it to the Liberty. The CX-9 is a way better family car, the Liberty was way more fun.

I'll probably have a Liberty again at some stage.

How's the fuel consumption on the mazda? I hear it is not good enough but it was people who did not own CX7 or CX9.

I have a CX-9 in the stable also. Fuel consumption is not bad really considering it's a 2 tonne AWD SUV. Current average is 12.89l/100km. That's better than my friends with Ford Terrotories (14 to 15l/100km) or Toyota Prados (also 14 to 15l/100km). It's about the same mileage as one mate with a current model Toyota Kluger Grande.

The CX-9 trip computer is pretty bad though. It consistently reads about 1 to 1.5l/100km over the actual. Judging by the comments on the Mazda forums, other owners have also realised the CX-9 trip computer can't be relied upon for accurate mileage figures as it consistently overstates the actual.

Still.... not as good as the average 10l/100km I get from the H6 in teh 3.0R-B!

I guess that's a good fuel economy compared to a mate's captiva which returned 15l/100km in country driving, where there are no traffic jams.
