Subaru recalls late model turbocharged cars

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

I'm sure it's ok. It's a recall, not a warranty claim.

Another one!? I can't believe they are replacing it again!

Yeah I have had mine already replaced, they said some peoples have let go in a bad way, mine was a small hairline crack and didn't lose much oil but made a mess of the engine bay

Hmm, this would explain the oily mess Phat found around the turbo/engine when he was installing the front mount.

Given that I have a leased car, I wonder if I will actually get the letter.

However I have already had this part replaced. There is nothing quite like sitting at a set of traffic lights and noticing smoke coming out of the bonet scoop!

You should. My current car and my previous MY05 was a lease and I still receive recalls and notifications.

Double Ugh!!! A couple of times lately I have noticed a smell of hotness from the front...maybe like hot oil? Wasnt after any hard or spirited use either.

Got the recall letter today.

For Libs I think you'll find this relates to the 2.5 turbo ie MY07 onwards - as delivered from Aug/Sept 06. I know ours was one of the first ones delivered and it was in the showroom at end August 06.

This is the problem I had occur in August last year and again for a second time in January this year.

By January this year Subaru Oz knew about the problem and had the fix. The faulty part was discontinued at that time.

Interesting it's taken them this long to admit the issue and issue a recall.
