Using another model as a donor?

Hi guys,

I was wondering if someone could confirm whether the engines are the same from model to model.

I have a 2001 Liberty RX and my mate has offered me his 2001 Forester for parts, both have the 2.5i engine in them and I was wondering if anything changed? I'm needing the sensors etc, so hoping it's just a matter of taking from one and putting in the other.

Also, non-engine related, are the brakes, exhaust etc also compatible from one to the other?

Hope this is the section to put this query, if not please point me in the right direction.

Very similar - but there's various differences in a lot of models. A lot of it will just carry over.
The exhaust is different I think , but the brakes are compatible.

The brakes is one of the main things I needed to swap over, as my current ones are almost on their last legs and the donor car has almost brand new ones

As stated before the only other thing is the sensors... so I hope they are the same engine. Will check out the engine number and hope that they are the same.
