Huge Global Wiper Recall Effects 935,000 Subaru Legacy Models, is Yours on the List?

Subaru is recalling 935,000 Legacy sedans globally because of a windshield wiper problem. Is your vehicle on the list?

Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI), maker of Subaru vehicles has issued a global recall of the Subaru Legacy sedan. According to Reuters, FHI will recall 935,000 Legacy sedans around the globe. Is your vehicle on the list?

What years are effected?

Affected Legacy models were produced from 2009 to 2013. The report says the worldwide recall affects cars sold in 76 countries. The majority of the Subaru sedans (592,000) being recalled were sold in the US where the cars are manufactured in Indiana.

What’s the issue?

Subaru’s Legacy models have an issue with their front windshield wipers the report says. FHI is recalling 107,000 Subaru Legacy’s in Japan, while the remaining 236,000 vehicles were sold in Australia, Europe and Asian markets. There were no reports of accidents that have occurred because of the windshield wiper issue.

The Subaru Legacy was hit with another recall this year that effected 2016-2017 models for a steering loss issue and earlier for a their Electronic Stability Control. These models were manufactured at Subaru's Indiana plant (SIA).

Subaru will notify Legacy owners, and dealers will fix the windshield wipers free of charge. Subaru of America has not provided a notification schedule. US owners may contact Subaru customer service at 1-800-782-2783 to see if their Legacy sedan is being recalled.
