BCM/BIU INFORMATION REQUIRED

Postby Logan2450 » Sun Aug 14, 2016 6:57 pm

Hey guys unfortunately i fried my bcm module (rigged up some diodes the wrong way) I am hoping to get some information clarified by people how had to replace their bcm new or used.
My concerns go as followed:
1/ The bcm contains the immobiliser or part of it
2/ because of this, if I buy a used unit (way way cheaper than a stealership) will the immobiliser transponder chips that will come with the used BCM let me operate the car or won't they mate with the car and start her up.

So basically I'm after any advice or people's experiences replacing the BCm with preferably a used one thanks :D

You can swap a used biu in, just need Subaru or an auto elec with the right software, to recode your keys and ecu signal to sync with the biu

And just check pre/post/model compatibility eg on opposed forces :)

Here you go, pre and post are different, alas no part number breakdown on this page so a little more research required eg google image search Subaru Liberty or legacy body integrated unit and look for the above type pics.

BIU:
Here's a breakdown of p/ns and models.

There's also a dedicated Central locking unit on the passenger side under the dash, perhaps that's worth checking & replacing?

Thanks for the replies guys awesome!!!!!
Basically I've lost half my illumination, central locking (all of it), steering wheel controls , seat belt buzzer and sports shift, I blew the backup fuse and replaced it which gave my car some of its functionality back (ac/stereo). I'll pop by the stealer ship today and see how much they'll charge to refashion and recode the keys with a used bcm

The bcm isn't the whole immobiliser is it?, basically Subaru said they won't install a used part and that I'd have to bring it on a tow truck for them to "try and recode the used bcm" that alone costs $1000 $700 also for recoding .can i steal the whole bcm,Ecu, immobiliser module from a donor car would that be easier I'm getting quite frustrated having no odometer, shift lock, illumination and central locking , my heart dropped after replacing the backup seeing only half my stuff started working again :banned:

I would like to thank you guys for you time and knowledge I appreciate it so much guess what!!! It turns out to be a fuse  I screwed up my continuity test and basically I put a fuse in the wrong whole so no power, for future reference fuse is pointed out in picture.. Apparently unit B+ fuse controls dash illumination, shift lock release/key release, odometer, sports shift central locking and more... I hope you guys can learn from my mistakes!!!!
Edit: picture didn't upload 2nd fuse on second row in car
