How much for a EZ30 engine

Postby Willus » Sun Jul 31, 2016 8:10 pm

So I need a new engine as mine is pretty much stuffed. So I wanted to know how much would it cost to get all new parts to build a new one? I've been told by a mechanic that walk in walk out is $5,500. That's with taking out the old one and putting in the new one. Also it's a new block and Pistons everything is new! So is this a good price?

There are a number of posts on the topic.

Why would Mr Mechanic use a new block? What is wrong with good ol' +0.25mm or +0.50mm pistons
Doesn't anyone do rebores anymore?

To be honest I'm not to sure what's wrong with it like using the old block. But of course it sounds better to have everything new :). I'll find out more info about it all once I see them tomorrow.

Put you VIN into the Subaru Europe section of PartSouq and have a roam around and find out what the USD cost of the engine parts, components and complete are worth.

Ok thanks for that I'll have a look and I was going to get a replacement one but since I'm not paying for it so I just thinks it better to have a whole new engine pretty much.
