Black Wagon Detailed

Postby WhiteGTB » Mon Oct 27, 2008 7:46 am

Finally had the chance to detail wagon car by Dan @ DMS.

Even though it looked clean, it had terrible swirl marks. Here are the results from the weekend.

I cringed when he started to clay the car, the sound was like sand paper and the clay turned brown. But the end finish was mirror like :) :)

Looks great Trieu! Very clean and smooth. Matt and I were drooling over the buttery smooth surface. :P

Very nice.

Question, on the Final Inspection website, they have like.. Different level's of detailing costing $180 to $950. May I ask which level did you buy to get your car looking so freaken smooth? I dare say its smoother than a baby's bottom. :D

I had my 2 month old boy with me and that is what the guys said too... yeah very smooth.

Stage 2 was what I had done. Dan charged me $250.

Yes, it was most silky smooth :D

Can't wait to eventually get mine done.

The difference it made to the black was crazy! Looks so deep & solid... Now Trieu, the challenge is to keep it that way! :P

Hey ,looks the shizzle Mate
Am waiting for it to be posted on the detailing site so I know what he used, did you end up going wax or sealant? (looks like a wax)
Also notice that the 3rd set of mufflers in a week! you are hanging around another muffler maniac me thinks?
Good luck keeping it like that

Heya Pete, Z2 sealant was used and then twice over with P21s. I did the 2nd coat later that night.

No pics where taken by him so I doubt he will post this work up anywhere.

Mano, love the wagon, seriously make a wagon ur next ride. Tint and ride height is in the pipelines :) :)

Best of both worlds, sealant for protection and the wax as a sacrificial layer, good call

Thanks for the kind words guys.

For those intrested the process was
1. wash
2.clay
3. Take paint thickness readings
4. wet sand trouble areas
5. removing sanding marks with a yellow edge pad and powergloss on rotary
6. buff car using a green edge pad and menzerna intensive polish and rotex
7. buff car using menzerna final finish and a festool waffle pad on rotex
8. paint clean to get rid of polishing oils
9. Eat some BBQ Trieu cooked up
10. Seal in Z2 (or Z5 i dont recall)
11. Wax with P21S 100 which Trieu supplied

The Stage 2 is usually $280 for a liberty wagon but as 2 cars were organised for the day and the wax was supplied i gave him a discount. Its my fault i didnt get the second car done, alas its happening this weekend!!

I might steal some of those pics for the detailing forums Trieu if thats ok with you.

Missed this. Im not Final Inspection. Thats Damian in Melbourne. Our packages are different so be careful comparing. Also with D you wont get a detail this year he is booked out, you can go on a cancellation waiting list which is about 15 people deep ATM. I dont think he is accepting booking for next year either.

Any Trieu change your sig lol
