3.0R mufflers on a 2.5T GT Spec B?

Postby cpitts » Thu Oct 23, 2008 10:11 pm

Will the mufflers be interchangeable between the 2 cars?

Obviously they'll need to be a sedan/sedan or wagon/wagon match but other than that, are the mounts and pipe angles the same on the muffler alone???

How far is the exhaust the same on both cars (2.5T and 3.0R) or are they not even close??

Yes. The mufflers are interchangeable.

No worries. The mufflers will bolt up without any issues. The only difference between the sedan and wagon is that the wagon has a longer bumper, so you'll want to extend the tips out a bit if you like them flush with the bumper. Otherwise 2.5GTB <-> 3.0 = no problem! :D

My STi mufflers that came off my car bolted straight onto a 3.0 sedan without issues. And the K2's that came off bolted straight onto Trieu's 3.0RB wagon without any issues (just had to extend the exhaust tips).

Yes. The exhausts will fit the 2.5 NA as well. According to the application charts, the mufflers are pretty much interchangeable except for the 2.0i that came out and only had the 1 exhaust side.

It'd be interesting to know if one flows better than the other?!!? Or has a lower pressure drop. Surely you'd want a little more restriction in the 2.5i than the 2.5T just for the bottom end anyway. :o

Also, are all the tip sizes the same?

I'm looking at some muff's from a '05 3RB and with the '07 GT-B being post facelift, the tips seem quite large, are they all the same size or were they 'embiggened' during the facelift?

(yes, embiggened is a perfectly cromulent word)
