Self driving cars

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

Self driving cars

Postby sundayDriver » Tue Mar 22, 2016 3:01 pm

I don't post much these days, but as a car enthusiast, the concept of self driving cars gives me the sh!ts. personally I think, if a person doesn't want to drive, instead, wants to watch a movie, read a paper, put on makeup, then they should catch public transport.

Yes, the guardian is not the most impartial of newspapers, but I think there is a lot of money behind the tech.

Personally I hope self driving cars goes the way of 3D TVs. At a minimum, they have to be painted bright yellow like a taxi.

No doubt will happen. I'd be more than happy to be able to use a driverless car to take me from a to b. App on phone, car arrives within 5, takes me to my dest. No insurance, no rego, no running costs. Pay as you go. BUT! As long as I can keep the GT in the garage for the weekends.

Can you imagine the havoc IS could cause if they hacked into these cars?

They can't come quick enough for me - driverless cars will change the world in massive ways we haven't even begun to consider - I'll certainly use a driveless car to get around, but I'll never stop driving.

Self driving cars will be a major hazard and cause more accidents as long as there are still other people driving their own cars. Can you imagine the gaps these cars will be programmed to adhere to. Pulling out into traffic at a ridiculously slow ( " safe " ) speed. Braking when someone cuts them off ? etc etc etc. Catch public transport if you want a " self driving car " I SAY. Glad this will never take off in my lifetime and I'm only 40 !

This is not at all true - but braking when someone cuts you off is generally a good idea.. also, you won't be caring as much about the drive, as you can get on with playing angry birds on your phone.

I guess getting in the back seat with a hottie during the drive to sydney is a plus.
