another remote door locking issue

Nearly everything is in here to start with.

another remote door locking issue

Postby davemal » Thu Mar 03, 2016 7:34 am

Hello,

I am new here - I have searched but wasnt able to find the same issue as what I am seeing.

I recently bought a MY10 liberty wagon. It was a little inconsistent locking and unlocking the doors via the key remote. I threw in some new batteries and now I find that it locks 100% reliably. Tested it at ~ 30m. It also unlocks the tailgate 100% reliably. However it will not unlock the doors. To unlock I have to use the key in the barrel of the drivers side door, turn the ignition on and then unlock the other doors using the central locking button in the drivers door. Yes, I am over it...

I dont think that its an issue with the remote button as the behaviour is the same with both keys that I have.

Any ideas ?

Am planning on taking it back to the dealer but its very inconvenient to do that, so I want to be sure that its not a simple fix first.

cheers

Probably a problem with the actual door locking mechanism. Known issue that's been well covered here - do a search.

There are good post on this site regarding the refurbishment of the central locking actuators.
Looky here viewtopic.php?f=12&t=10479&hilit=+actuator

If you are saying that NONE of the actuators are opening, that is, all not working at the same time, then this may be something different?
There is a mechanism in the switch barrel to detect whether the key is in the barrel or not in the barrel.
If the key is detected, it stops the car from responding to an open door request from the key fob while the key is inserted in the ignition.
There is a microswitch or other sensing device within the barrel sensing the key.
This might be faulty.
Hope that this helps?

UPDATE:
BTW
I have just checked the Gen5 Factory Service Manual.
For a fault with "Door lock or unlock does not operate" the key warning switch is listed - <Ref. to SL-22, CHECK KEY WARNING SWITCH., INSPECTION, Keyless Entry System.>
