You're on a Liberty Forum longhorn, so of course we are all going to sway towards the Subaru's - If of course one of your selections was an R35 GTR or maybe even a BMW 335i, then you may have gotten a different response
From my families experience, Subaru's are always a good bet. Especially the Liberty. The Liberty is a nice car & to be honest, I think for the money you pay its a top buy.
Audi's may have a little more style & a more premium name, but as Phil points out, their build quality isn't what it used to be. Many car companies have closed the gap in the last 10 years or so in terms of quality, performance & style. Take the Holden Calis vs the 5 series BMW's (Not M5!)... So many of my clients have become Calis drivers since the VE came out as they drive as good if not better plus they still have all the safety features & luxuries for half the price!
Forget servicing costs, they mean very little. My Subaru costs the same amount as it costs my old man to service his 911.
Now that I've crapped on long enough

I think you need to ask youself what your looking for... If you want a nice car but don't care about performance, the 2.5 will do the job... If you want a bit of everything then go the GT... If you're a brand whore (Like myself

) then go the Audi, but trust me, the 1.8T Audi's drive like nuggets & are really not much of a joy to drive - Do you really want to pay more to have less
