SI Drive Cover

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

I can't see any reason why it couldn't be run again.
But I'll make around 10 extra for people that come along later.

Might have to get me one of those but didn't,t find a price in the thread. So what's the delivered price ?
Looks excellent! What was the final decision about the top? Plain or logo? I don't mind either way :)

They have been doing one for quite a while now, but I'd rather go for Adam's one when done. They should be around $60-80 I believe, correct me if I am wrong though

OK Guys.
I am back and focused on getting this finished!!

Apologies for the hiatus… it’s been a perfect storm of interruptions. As some of you may know, I’ve been without my car for a while as its was having its engine replaced. Then got my car back and got sent away for work an abnormal amount of times. Then after sending my son to day care for his first week, he gave my wife and I a cold/flu that I’m certain would have killed a weaker man haha

So anyway, over the weekend I purchased the double sided tape, and have now adjusted the cover height to allow for the tape thickness. Today at lunch I will be doing a simple shop drawing for the fabrication shop as they don’t think it’s necessary to do something so small off a 3D model.

The fabrication shop has asked for tolerances on the cover. It’s been 10+ years since I’ve worked in a field that uses tolerances, and I’ve never been on the machining side of that field. So I’m nervous about putting ridiculous tolerances on the cover. I don’t want them to be too generous, but at the same time I don’t want to make them so tight that the machine shop laughs at me and doubles the price. So is anyone out there experienced in this field and would be willing to put some tolerances on the cover for me? If so, send me a private message with your email address and ill send you the shop drawing (minus the tolerances of course)

Cheers!!

P.S I forgot to mention that the new machine shop is looking to be a little bit cheaper than the last. So its looking like the price will now be $60 rather than $65 estimated earlier :D

Good to hear you back on board Adam. Sorry to hear about the manflu though.

I cant help you with the tolerance issue. But do you know if plastic expands and contracts like metal does? Would that make a difference with fitment? I am assuming you are using vernier calipers to measure it all?
Cheers

That's a good question shav!
Short answer is i don't know if it expands. However it would have to expand a lot to be an issue as I've left a safety factor in there.
