My First car Liberty Wagon MY06 3.0R Spec.B

Postby Willus » Wed Aug 26, 2015 9:22 pm

Hi everyone I've just purchased my first car which is a Liberty Wagon 3.0R Spec.B 4Gen
Manual MY06. I love it and can't wait to do some mods just wondering is there any car cruises around Liverpool Sydney area?
Also at look at upgrading my car with a few things does anyone have any recommendations on good brands and on what I should start on first?

It's got low kms on it at 115,568km so I'm quiet happy with the buy :)
Does anyone else have a 3.0R Spec B wagon?

Nice choice and yes I have a Obsidian black pearl MY08 wagon spec b auto (nackered left knee so no choice but love the paddle shift)and I love this car!
First mod you should do is get Matt from KiDo tuning to give it his magic touch. $400 and will be the best first mod you could do...you won,t believe what difference it makes.
Enjoy the car mate and congrats!

Next you need to let it breathe better so get a high flow air filter and raptor headers with some different mufflers depending on how much noise you want :)
Regular oil changes with a good semi synthetic and high flow oil filter also help these engines. ALWAYS use 98 fuel!
Try and use bendix ultimate brake pads, even though they are pricey they are the best in my opinion and stopping is kinda important lol.
That's the best way to start mods but just my own choice. Others may take a different path but we all have our preferences.

Nice the MY05 is really good too!!!
The MY08 come with the sports button doesn't it? Like the sports and sports sharp?
I'm glad my MY06 is 6 speed manual would feel weird driving auto but the paddle shift would be awesome. I Deffs got to look at kido and that's a good price I looked at CPI and they charge big money on certain tunnings you want. I know they have a good rep and are slowly getting out there but like his tunes are in 1K mark. Thank you I love the car and is practical for my family as I have 2 kids.

So once I get the tunning done. Then I'll do my exhaust and what are some good brands for high flow air filter and raptor headers? Also how much do they cost if you know? I don't want to much noise but if I rev it and that. That's when I would love to hear the sound. So when I do the next oil change I'll use that oil and how often would you change the oil or does it depend on how you drive the car? I will make sure I use 98 fuel. Would you recommend to put sti breakers on and rotors with them break pads? Thank you South for the help Gaz :)

K&n high flow air filter.
The headers are called 'Raptor' (http://www.raptorsc.com.au/subaru6.html) and are $390 plus postage and need some minor welding to match up on the flanges to the old system.
There are way too many mufflers out there to give you an answer, all have different notes and levels. I have gone for a set of STi quad tip mufflers off an 06 STi as I don,t want much noise, just more flow and performance cuz I'm old :) there is a heap of info on exhausts and noise here viewforum.php?f=55
I change my oil and filter every 7500kms which is way under recommendations but it's a cheap thing to do and in my opinion is worth being kind to the motor.
The brakes are fine with bendix ultimate pads but if you want even better then there are many options of what to put on. You're best off to do some searches on this forum to see what others have done ( any brake upgrade won't be cheap either)
I think that covers it mate.
Good luck and enjoy :)

Appreciate all the help and that's not bad for headers the price and shipment. Do you know any good mechanics that can put it on? Yea I'm not to interested in a really loud muffler lol. Where's the filter on the engine when you change the oil as I wouldn't have a clue lol

I'll look around on the forum in regards to that. I will deffs keep you posted on my mods it won't be straight away as I will do bit by bit when I have the money. Thank Gaz

No problem mate. Oil filter is underneath on the drivers side. You might have to drop the plastic engine splash guard to get at it. (3.0 engine)
I' min murwillumbah so don't know any mechanics in your area but any decent exhaust shop will be able to do it for you, just shop around.
I should point out that my opinion on what oil is just that, my opinion. Others may prefer full synthetic and for a highly tuned or stressed motor it is the best but for a standard Liberty a semi synthetic is good as it has some properties full synthetic doesn't. A full synthetic may give a few more ponies though. Comes down to preference.
Look forward to seeing your progress.

Thanks for that :)
Oh ok I know where that is always go passed there in the truck. So just any semi synthetic oil doesn't matter on the brand?
I'll look around my area for a mechanic!!!

I use nulon but Penrite is good as well. I couldn't say if one is better than the other and there are a lot more choices out there.
Hope you find a decent mechanic and exhaust shop :)
