Matthew Yapp who is now doing the club.lib stickers might be able to whip something up for the top of the cover? Maybe get someone to tag him in the FB posting or PM him?

keep in mind a sticker that small will have to be a printed circle as individual cut letters that small will be a bitch for the sticker dude to do.

Or just buy some black or carbon fibre style vinyl sticker from eBay. Cut circle out and instant Mcintosh look.

UPDATE: I have just 3D printed a test piece to check fitment, which ill check tonight.
If all went well the first time (which id be amazed if it did given how hard it was to get the verniers into all spaces to measure the factory dial) then we'll be going into production. If it didnt go perfectly, then ill make the adjustments, print another version and 2nd times a charm!

One thing ive noticed is the slotted hole for the LED light is much smaller in person than it looked in CAD, so ill see how it goes when installed and make the adjustments if needed.

Fantastic - looking good!! :D

Yeah, the hole does look smaller (even in the picture). But a rough *finger on the screen* measurement confirms it's about the same as in CAD. Must be an optical illusion. But yeah, we'll leave it up to you to adjust as required.

At this stage the only things im interested in, is the radius of the dome on the underside of the cover matching the top of the factory dial, and the angle of the chamfer on near the bottom edge. Both of these faces should make contact with the dial with the finished product to prevent rocking, so it needs to be spot on. Granted the domed underside of the cover will have tape between it and the factory dial, but id still like them to be closely matched.

Could getting some moulding clay and putting it around the original dial be helpful in maintaining the radius angles you need and replicating it to the new dial?

I thought about doing something like that Shav, but then i realised that all that would give me is another shape ive still got to accurately measure somehow

The tricky part is with digital verniers is that the figure changes so quickly when you havent got a surface to lock it onto, and as most of the faces on the factory dial have filleted edges, i didnt always have a face to lock the calipers onto.

Im sure it will be fine though, we're talking 100th's of a mil so it will be fine.

Forgot to let you know how the test fit went.
Everything fit perfectly... although too perfectly for my liking.
By that I mean I can't tell if the cover is sitting on the chamfered edge like it's supposed to, or its just sitting on the bottom edge. So I'm going to do another test. Going to put some whiteboard marker on my factory dial and see where the cover touches. If it rests in all the right places, i then just have to adjust the model to allow for the tape thickness and we're good to go.

It's amazing how such a small product can get everyone so excited, but also so amazing how much time is required with design and fitment..
Love your work Adam! And thanks for putting in so much time!

Update:
Printed a few more covers for test fitting on the weekend.. want to make certain of the fitment. It was pointed out to me that my current design wouldn't allow for intelligent mode to be selected. Dont know how, but i didn't realise it pushed into the centre console, i thought it there was a gap under the dial. So this means I have to finish the cover a bit short of the centre console. So adjustments are being made :-)
