Introduce yourself

Newbie, Just got a GT Spec B =)

Hey guys, I'm Ethan. I'm 20 years old and have always been a bit of a fan of Subaru. Most of my friends are always telling me how good of a car the gen 4 Liberty is, and to be honest I always liked the look of the gen 4 Libertys. I also wanted something fast.
I play alot of video games, also play electric guitar in my spare time. Don't really go outside much =)

So after about a couple years drooling over the Libertys, I finally purchased a Black 2007 MY07 GT Spec B sedan last week. Completely stock.
Seeing all the modifications members on here have done to their Libs has also inspired me to register on here.

Anyways, I live on the gold coast QLD and I'm a cook at kfc (it sucks I know) and I also do a tiny bit of work for my dad.
Up until this week I drove a grey 2004 Mazda 3 SP23 sedan... great car, don't get me wrong, it had enough grunt for me but I wanted a turbo. I put RX8 rims on it and it looks pretty good imo.
This is it

As said, its completely stock. The guy I bought it off in Melbourne took real good care of it. I flew down and drove it back up to the Gold Coast. Its done 146000km.
I took it in to the bodyshop today to get it cut and polished and the calipers painted red. I pick it up tomorrow, and I've also got it booked in for friday for a service, fuel injection clean and general check over.

As mentioned, seeing other members Libertys on here has really inspired me. I bought a fibreglass front grill from the ultrex website and it should come in in a few days.
I plan to put 19 inch rims on (maybe 18s dunno yet) and front lip. Maybe side and rear lips too if it'll look good, not too sure about that one.

Anyways thats about it. Thanks for reading guys =)

Hi Ethan, welcome to the forum mate. Great car you have there. These are truly an awesome car for the money. You chose well. Nothing wrong with the Mazda either, but if you are after extra grunt either the 2.5L turbo or 3.0 in the Spec B variant are ones to choose.

Not that I want to push you down the slippery slide of mods, but speak to Matt (Kido Tuning) for an inexpensive tune which will help improve power, economy and gear shifts in the auto gearbox if that is what you have. A worthy little power mod to do for a stock gt. Rims are a personal choice and in my opinion there are only a handful of styles that suit these cars without making them look gimmicky or cartoonish and still maintaining the class these cars possess. So don't be in any rush to hand over fist fulls of coin on just anything. Research on here about it and learn about the many offsets and wheel widths available without having to do any guard work.

Same goes with anything really. Research all there is to know about a particular mod you want to do. There are many here who know a lot about these cars that will assist you and could potentially save you lots of money and heartache by avoiding the things you need to.

Anyway, post up some pics once you get the car back from detailing. Also start your own thread in the 'post my mods' section of the forum.

All the best.
Cheers
Shav

Thanks for the welcome... yea I agree with you about the rims, only some really suit the Libertys. I've got my eye on a paticular set of 19 inch Audi a4 rims, something about them really gets me. But theres no rush, I'll throw them on once I get enough money.
Sounds good about the tune, how much would this 'inexpensive tune' cost? Also, being on my P2 license, this wouldn't affect the cost of insurance/legality of my car would it?
I'll get onto kido tuning anyhow...
Thanks again =)

Welcome to the forums!

A tune should definitely be on your to do list, will be better for your engine and drive much better too :D

You'll probably be happy to drive around with the power it has stock for a bit once tuned, so it gives you a chance to do your wheels and other cosmetic mods that you like

I think you'll find these will be the wrong PCD. You'll need to find something with 5x100.
