what are my wheels worth?

what are my wheels worth?

Postby 541NTT » Thu Sep 25, 2008 9:43 am

hi guys,

as some of you may or may not no, i upgraded my wheels on my 04 GT to the spec B gun metal grey 18s a few months ago, now AGAIN i am thinking of upgrading to something bigger, now my question is what kind of money can i get for my wheels? i see these wheels for sale for all kinds of amounts.

they are in perfect condition bar 1 small curb mark on the rite rear wheel, the tires are bridgestone potenzas with 98% tread, still have nobly bits on them.. any ideas?

what about lowering your car? makes the wheels look bigger...

the last set i saw go on here went for about $600 i think, but yours will probably be worth around $800

I bought mine on here for $1000 with a little bit of rubber left, but the rims were in perfect condition.

Any damage at all is a turn off for most buyers (Unless they are planning on powder coating etc). If you've got a lot of meat on your tyres & you've only got very minor damage on one I think $800 ish is fair. Had they been in perfect nick & good tyres $1000 + is not a bad ask. Basically it comes down to who's in the market for rims at the time. Spec B rims do look awesome on pre-face lift models, especially when lowered :D

For general info, Subaru sell the Spec B rims for $700 a rim without rubber... If I'm not mistaken they are manufactured by Enkei, so although they are not a light weight rim, they are pretty good quality :D

I think there's some vested interests speaking here mason_luke. You never ask a car salesman what a car is worth do you?

If the wheels are in good nick, you'll get up to $1,100 for them without tyres. Tyres with hardly any tread are probably worth 2/3 what you paid for them.

Add that up and see what you get, then put it to the market. You'll only know what you can get for them when you've got an interested buyer. These 18" SpecB wheels are popular. Don't sell yourself short.

Cheers,
Deucer.

OEM Tyres are worth big bucks.

They are worth what people are willing to pay for them.

I reckon 1200 is about right but then again you have to factor in the 150 someone will have to spend ot get the rim properly repaired.

thanks for all the feed back guys, ive already had a pm for a guy offering me 1000! good responses,

to be honest i was just settling with my car, only thoughts were to lower it a bit more to get a better stance an bit stiffer ride then i sore this thread.\

http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?t=3264

and it blew me away, that lib looks amazing with those wheels, so im thinking 20ies for the next wheels with something like old mates in chrome or black with a chrome lip..

the only hesitations i have is usually these wheels new or second hand are sold with nankang tires, im not sure how i will go coming from my potenzas to nankangs as i wont have the money to re shoe them straight away..
