iv come up with a design that im using on the WRX set up which you may be interested in

where the dump joins the cat back there is a reducer from 3" or 76mm (dump pipe) to the factory cat back 61mm

so ill be give a slip join with clamp so you can remove the reducer and slip on a 3" or 76mm straight pipe with a two bolt flange welded to it so if you change at a later date the restrictive center section to a custom 3" you just slip out the reducer and slip in the 3" adaptor and off you go with out ever having to remove the dump pipe in turn saving money

i have these at the coaters now and will be ready on monday morning

as iv made pleanty of these ill through a set in for every dump

FOR FREE FREE FREE
sorry no pics but i can tell you its the way to go i just didd'nt have them ready in time but looks like the coaters will come through

let me know ???????

Michael

Another great design idea from Phat. These DP are very well designed and made. Great product. Can't wait to get mine on.

Michael

As Phat stated, these are probably THE BEST DP that you can get for the 2.5L Turbo Lib in oz.

Does that mean you've fitted one on your Lib already?

I have though Jim , or rather the Phat installed my dump pipe late last week, and then after some discussion got the remains of the system converted from 2 1/2 inch up to 3 inch from the pipe to existing Hitechs
Performance is greatly improved, much more responsive especially mid and upper range, and the slight stutter/ hesitation that seems to plague the engine is gone
Noise from just the dump pipe (as was in his backyard did not drive with just the dump and standard centre exhuast) seemed deeper rather than louder, and now with the 3 inch is louder and deeper again but not a huge amount, although when the lady of the house drives it I may need to revert back to the standard centre section, which with the Phats clever mod can be easily done
I have done nothing else to the engine apart from a panel filter so maybe you guys that have done more extensive mods may have a different view but for me this is how the response should have been from the start
Fit was the normal Phat high standards, (where are the how to pics Mike?)
All in all for the lucky 9 remaining I think you will be well pleased and would reccomend the ones who missed out or are thinking about it to put your order in for the next batch

As one of the lucky nine I am obviously eager to hear feedback and tuning results?

Good work Pete! Although it took a bit of convincing (though you buckled like a little girl in the end), I think the DP is well worth the extra noise. It certainly took a while for Phat and the Funeral Boys to convince me, but I'm glad they did. One of the most impressive mods that just makes you go 'Whoa!' :D

Gonna have to ride in your car soon to compare the noise increases. For me with the K2 Gear setup, noise increase was at the most minimal, so it was still very tolerable for a daily driver. For the single guys out there, noise levels doesn't matter much. For for family men like us, we gotta keep levels at a safe level to where the complaints end up being louder than the exhaust! :D

No need for a tune if you're not ready for it. The DP isn't about the power gains, but the responsiveness of the car, and I don't think the DP has increased power enough to warrant a mandatory tune. You gonna be at the meet this Wednesday? I want a sound clip!

Funny Jim was just thinking would be worth the update of a sound clip, However my wife is arriving back from overseas on tues nite late so not such a great idea to buzz off the next nite
Having said that I am going to try and make the wed meets in the future a regular thing, promise
Gone back to the quads yet Jim? oops?

Pork and run, sir! Pork and run. :D But yeah, you probably better stay at home less you find yourself in the doghouse.
No, haven't gone back to the quads yet. Still liking the new sound. Deeper and a bit louder. Still getting used to the new look though. Will try for the new centre pipes on Wednesday.

blackandwhite - do you have a boost guage fitted? Any boost spiking with stock maps?

Arith - is your tune stock? If so any dramas with aftermarket pipes and stock maps? Dynoed?

No tune so far and no boost guage, not really an expert regarding all these things , Phat would be your man to answer those sort of questions, all I know is the car feels more responsive and more linear in its power delivery

Yup, I'm mainly stock except for a few odd items. But no, no dramas with the aftermarket piping. I'm running the twin centre pipes from K2 Gear. It's got a massive muffler instead of a resonator so it's keeping things pretty quiet. But the DP is complemented with a HKS boost controller and a Haltech Interceptor piggyback ECU.

I didn't do a before and after dyno so I couldn't tell you what sort of gain to expect from a performance DP. But like I said, it's not about the net kw gain. The responsiveness and torque gains are outstanding! I think people are too concerned about the numbers these days. Just do mods that make you happy and that improve on what you had previously.

i believe i was there that night to see the end result.. very nice and neat install.. plus that new swappable section that michael made up is great for flexability without any hassles..

and overall im worried about going the 3inch for the sound.. but after hearing this converstion it was obviously a little louder but not loud enough to annoy.. it has a nice boxer noise to it without losing its class...

after hearing this setup i am really considering a 3inch setup all the way thru... starting today, i just picked up my new DP from mike tonight
