Looking awesome!!!
Love the look of the twin pipes! Do they vibrate on the under body at all?
I'm no exhaust expert, but wouldn't the dump pipe diameter dictate the flow? Or can there still be an improvement once you get past that point?

Thanks, its tedious to do all that wrapping using only 2 pieces of wrap.

Was just doing the maths to show there is no detriment to the flow even though much quieter.

Getting excited to get the car back now !! Hopefully tomorrow or Monday at the outside.

Have two gaskets to pick up from Subaru, noticed small leak from the underneath OCVs today :?
Painful, I didn't plan on having to do these but gotta be done this week before revisit the dyno with the new turbo.
CURRENT - ATP GTX 3576 - 22psi - 283.7awkw
OLD - Dom 1.5Xtr - Last dyno 254ahkw, previous 238ahkw, first 224awkw.

Yesh indeed!

Hopefully we will see top end gains with the side effect of no oscillating MAP pressure from surge - small turbo and killerB headers is a no-no and cruise around 2500rpm is not currently as smooth as I like.

When I boot it, the auto always kicks back into high rpm zone so auto and bigger turbo will be good when booting but time will tell how it goes at mid throttle.

We may of course destroy the auto, its changes are brutal due to huge number of clutch packs.

Exciting but nervous times too.

Sorry, missed your underbody question. no knocking or touching the body at all.

The mufflers are welded together for strength to the center assembly too.

That's great... nothing worse than an exhaust that vibrates against the body. Usually happens with exhausts made in exhaust shops.

Its so quite, just amazing!!
Heat wrap helps the current turbo spool easy too.

Christmas came today too::

Got tomorrow off work, super excited to be getting busy on the car again!!

Dyno on weekend too, exciting and a little nerve racking at the same time......

Thanks Ian, Ill need to catch up next weekend for an LV, I still haven't got a tactrix as I have been spending money on other things :D

Install update:
Turbo is in but have a few things that need to be done/tweaked.
Some bolts on uppipe were seized, wasted Friday afternoon getting them off.
Had to use 2.25inch intake, wasted hours fiddling with the 3inch intake. Did not install phenolic spacers either (will keep both for when I start building a swap motor)

To be done to finish install:
Turbo oil drain tube needs adjustment.
Need to have a 2inch to 2inch aluminium joiner with rolled barb made.

The big issue was getting the intake pipe on the turbo.... what a bugger of a thing!!

Had one BIG problem......started car and had it idling and doing the leak check......was happy as until it hit operating temp and then started to drip coolant on floor...
The top tank return to the front radiator was dripping at the front radiator hose end, turned car off and let it (and me) cool down.
Turns out I need a new radiator top tank as the plastic fitting that the hose slides onto was cracked underneath.
Must have damaged it when removing the old hose, dammit!!

Anyway will take this opportunity to look at uprating the radiator if possible.

Going to be on WGate pressure for a month or so...

No worries J just give me text of when you're thinking.
Not available Saturday afternoon/night But any other time should be good.

Seems like the majority of the hard stuff is done, liking forward to the ancillaries and experiencing it on full song ;)

Also still to install gauges, will pick your brain when we catch up about the wiring haha!

Thanks Ian.

UPDATE

Took car out last night, great until it caught on fire.. well just a little bit.....

Sh!tty turbo oil line fitting started leaking oil onto turbo and uppipe blanket is full of it now, that was where the small flame was....rotten luck!!!!
The reason I pulled over was that my innovate oil pressure suddenly went to zero.....turns out to be just the fitting that the wire for the oil pressure switch sender had come loose but this bad luck saved me from a major fire so I can not complain. Turns out it only leaks under higher load and rpm, so did not see any leaking when checking before driving. Tightened these fittings before the drive too

After I get another line and fittings on there I will just have to dry it out on the weekend by idling it for a long time while it burns off. I'll be at the ready with an extinguisher - major boooooring !

Before the drama it was excellent, even at gate pressure in the 8degree air.
Absolutely bugger all lag once headers are warmed up, surprising!!

Sounds less of an animal now though but at low load is much quieter and will be easy to live with.

Was there much damage with the fire?

did you only wrap the headers J? or up and dump as well? :) got some wrap myself but havnt mustered the courage to do it, looks like a crap job to do..

So you personally think the spool difference is noticeable?

My mechanic had to remove the dump pipe to wrap my headers. I think he soaked the wrap in water first then, wrapped it, waited till it was reasonably dry and refitted the dump. The heat then helped solidify the wrap into it's position.
