Amazing to achieve this on a limited budget!
What's the strategy for not grenading it?
Or... how will you resist the urge to...? :P

This is gambit's old twist mount setup and piping right?

If so, I would look to change the cold side piping near the throttle body as from memory this was rubbing on the fuel lines and ultimately resulted in the unfortunate fire that cause the car to be written off.

Id like to say i persevered and figured it out, but truth of the matter is the tolerances and spacing for these pipes did not allow me too. I had to purchase a new turbo :(

It is gambits old setup, interesting i didnt remember seeing friction that high up, its pressed hard up against the positive terminal cover of the battery but much appreciated and i will check it out!

Thanks guys, DIY goes a long way in budget work :) as long as you have to time!
How not to grenade it.. haha hmm yet to sort that one out, guess il just go for a conservative tune, something the stock block can handle.. next step after sorting coolant and oil lines out will be hopefully a cosworth HG and 11mm ARP studs as recommended by guys here, maybe even mick. Any other wisdom is much appreciated! obviously wont be able to use the full potential of this setup until i have funds for the block :)

aaaannnnnnd intake all finished!
Exhaust section is also completed but no pics, only a flex join with a bit of pipe!

Question: The turbo inlet found on a stock setup has 3 'plugs' assumable to be air related. My current intake does not have room for these as far as i can tell.. are these needed or can they be tuned out?

That's weird! Every intake I've seen has a spot for the 3 sensors.
I like the intake set up. Are you going to make a heat shield for it?

I dont have the turbo inlet pipe though :/ so i would also have to extend the rubber tubing from the sensors (im referring to the turbo inlet that passes under the inlet manifold)
Not sure, hopefully i dont need them haha :/

Hmm heatshield.. probably not, how much heat would be down there anyway? worst comes to worst i could get some heat reflective tape?

In SA, a shield of some description is required for legality purposes. If I did this, I would need to make a shield or shroud in case popo decided to pop the bonnet.

ahh very interesting shav, was not aware of this. Any logical reason why this is a requirement? maybe i will look into a bit of metal mounted to the engine bay somewhere to cover it

Yeah i was suggesting the heat shield or legal reasons too.
Let me find you a picture of my inlet hose which is typical of all aftermarket inlets.

that would be much appreciated!

i guess it tassie atleast:
A replacement air filter (including a pod filter) may be fitted to a vehicle without specific approval by the Department of Transport and Main Roads and without having a modification plate fitted, provided:

it is securely attached to the vehicle
it does not cause an increase in noise from the air intake system (to resolve this issue the air filter element may have to be effectively encased or boxed-in)
the vehicle's gaseous emissions are not adversely affected

and while im here:
Fitting a blow-off valve is considered a minor modification and does not require approval. When fitting a blow-off valve, it must be vented back into the vehicle's induction system. Blow-off valves that vent directly to the atmosphere must not be fitted.

Here you go.
Not sure what the sensors are, but they must be important as all the brands of inlet hoses that ive seen have spots for them....

Guys that sensor is the air flow meter - it is calibrated for a certain pipe size and flow - it is probably the most important sensor on your car.
