Hi All, Suby Noob With a few questions.

Hi All, Suby Noob With a few questions.

Postby Pumpkinpizza » Sun Apr 12, 2015 10:14 pm

Hi,

I've always been an admirer of Subaru's, and since December i have become the proud owner of a 2005 Liberty Sedan 2.0.

If you ask me about a commodore i could tell you all, but i've been a little lost with the Liberty, and I have struggled to find or get the right info about my car, mainly the engine.

I'm not even sure what variant of the liberty i have, by that i mean with a commodore I know all about the Executive to Berlina, to Calais, SS, SV6 etc.... I could go on. But I'm a little lost with my Liberty.

So any info or guidance anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

One of my main issues is the details of the engine, according the the compliance plate it's a EJ204, but when i look on the net to get power and torque info I have found this hard, and unclear. From what i can tell my car has either 110Kw or 140kw. Torque I don't know.

So if there is any one who is an expert on the 2005 Lib and can shed some light on to the details about my car that would be great!.

I plan to do little bits and pieces to it, so far I've replaced the speakers and stereo in order to mount my Samsung tablet phone in as my removable media center, all is done except proper mounting of the tablet for easy removal and insertion.
I found the Liberty quite good for that and the fact you can get quality genuine parts for replacing the stereo with a single din was fantastic!

Well thats for reading if you got this far, hope i didn't ramble too much.

:-)

First of all welcome to the forums.

I myself are quite new too but as far as I know there isn't much to gain from the EJ20's, let alone the EJ25's (Which is what I have). If you want big gains you are probably going to be wanting to look at turbo city and you can label it as the money pit.

None the less they are a great and reliable car (when looked after). Your car would have the 140KW engine as the 114KW engines are found typically on old Impreza's.

I wouldn't call myself an expert but I hope this small amount of info I have told you will help in any way. You will be sure to find people here that are willing to help you with any issue you have. A good place to look will be the forum pertaining to the specific engine you have here.

Once again, welcome.

I don't think the NA EJ 2 litre made 140 kw in Aus spec (that was probably just JDM spec). It's more likely to have made 110kW or 114kW.

That is a good point. That figure sounds about right.

The 2.5 pre face lift made 121kw, post face lift made 127kw. I doubt the 2.0R would have made 140kw... so I'd say it's more the 110-114kw figure. Redbook should tell you though.

Hi All!

Thanks for your responses!

What is funny is that the opinions are different, but basically all same kinds of figures i found on the net.

So still my answer eludes me.

I have a OBDII reader that bluetooths to my phone and an app which was stating around 140Kw at peak power. I'm not sure how reliable that could measure that, but I put it in my old car a 2007 Corolla which is now my sisters car, and i know has 100Kw and thats what the read out on the app said at peak.

But acceleration wise my corolla is a bit slower than the Liberty, but is a 6 speed, and lighter, so 114Kw or there about would make sense given the performance, power to weight etc.

But it is funny how hard it is to find that info.
