that second shot is great! such a candid moment! great colours, focus has hit the right spots and not too shallow f/stop.

Thanks Jack. I borrowed a friends Sigma 30mm F1.4 prime lens for the occasion and could notice the better clarity and colors. I didnt have to play with the photo too much on LR5 either, it was almost presentable off the lens.

yeah my Sigma 50mm 1.4 is amazingly sharp, your always going to get sharper photos out of a fixed lens. a must have in any kit is a fixed 30mm and a fixed 50mm. great lenses. if you didn't have the need to zoom, you could almost get away with only those two lenses!

Well said. I have a 35mm F1.8 Nikkor. That lens is great but I found the Sigma to be that bit better. I might invest in a 50mm prime when I get the chance. It's the perfect type of lens to have for just about anything as you say.
