Really looking forward to it... I gave the car a squirt this afternoon in a spot I have floored it many times before... the car is sooooooo much faster now. At all points in the rev range. Should be able to sneak into a 12 now.... hopefully.

My prediction

12.72 with a 1.8 60 ft time and 112-114mph

Simbat - the stock auto launches just as well (although may break centre diffs if done too often) and down the drag strip I disagree again about a manual being better. The auto gearing is alot better (cross the line in 4th so only three up shifts which are lightning fast compared to a manual too). A six speed requires four upshifts manually.

I love manuals - always owned them until this car so I'm not a fanboi. But straight line street or strip, no doubt an auto is faster all the time.

The stock auto takes off just as well as an antilag launch?

I'd be thrilled with that!
Isn't there a point where launching too hard will result in wheel spin? If my auto does that at lowish rpm, wouldn't a manual that's launched at 4000-5000rpm just spin even more and as a result be slower off the line?

This is really interesting re autos. I still find it hard that a good launch in a manual is slower. 6MT in a SpecB is still the ultimate combo and desirable.

In the street which is where it matters is how well the car drives and performs in your everyday conditions.

Dr20 put a 6mt in your franken and this will be killer and you know how it would benifit.

All interesting and good to hear opinions

Only place it would be better is track.

Street and drag strip - auto wins hands down

With my car the reason I haven't been able to launch is well documented.

Anyway sorry for taking your thread off topic Adam

I've always said I prefer a manual just for the feel

But no disputing fact - autos are faster in a straight line all the time

That's one thing an auto is definitely not suited for... it'd be way too hard on the brakes.
I'd love to do a track day in someone else's car though haha

Brakes are for braking, clutch is for going - that isn't the limitation of the auto, it's just more likely to cook, and the advantage of the stalling isn't there and the advantage of quicker shifts doesn't get you anywhere compared to less driveline loss and more direct control and being in the right gear at the right time.

Not to mention the gay ratios of auto and having 1 less gear. Just trying to imagine a 2l Liberty pulling out of a hairpin in second, and then having to wait 5 secs for the motor to reach its torque band lol. Meanwhile the chick in the Honda next to you gives you a cheeky grin while she pulls away.

I have that problem (not QUITE that bad - and probably better now on E85) in the 5sp manual, sucks out of hairpins, first is too short, second is too long. And being beaten by an NA (non NSX) Honda is the pinnacle of embarassment.

Bob when you go 6MT you won't have this issue due to ratios
