Wheel Offset

I'm looking to get some 17 inch track rims for my renault, but its gay and has 68mm offset , and pcd 108 - which means finding buckleys that will fit


I found a few wheels - well fish did for me, thanks mate - that have pcd 108, but the offsets are like only 40


what happens if i put a wheel on with a lower offset than my standard ones? I've been told the reason why its so high on the renault is to clear the brembos, so does that mean if i get lower offset, it will not clear the calipers and the wheel will hit the brembies?


this sh1t is confusing!

Whoever told you it had anything to do with the Brembo was just making stuff up. The +40 offset actually sits an inch further OUT. Brake clearance might depend on spoke design though.

Those wheels will likely hit your guards and will definitely place more strain on hubs and wheels bearings, possibly leading accelerated wear and failure.

commonsense tells you to look at a renault forum. and see what wheels they have on their cars. offsets etc.

Thanks for the advice coyote, cos i am looking at rims for the track, and the last thing i want is something which is gonna put more stress on the car

Nothing wrong with a 68 offset, my Porsche is 65.
Going to 40 will stuff up many things, especially if it has negative scrub radius - taking the Porsche to 50 or lower offset turns it into a confirmed rut follower, and unstable in a straight line - dont go there. Keep hunting.
