Watching Top Gear now on SBS... Wtf, its an exact replica of the UK show. Everything from the intro to the set, even down to the camera work.. I don't know about you fellas but I was looking forward to a Top Gear that Australia could call its own.. I got tickets for it, after seeing the show I'm now less enthusiastic to go lol am I being too harsh?

Agree. Pretty disappointing.

Not real excited about watching "the Stig" (yeah right) driving a stretch Hummer round some shrinky-dink aerodrome either.

They have made it identical to the UK version for a reason... Cause that formula works & is a proven success.
Personally i didn't mind it there were a few corny moments, but give them a break, it was only there first episode.

I don't think it was the best or the worst, but I’m going to give them a couple of episodes to use to each other, it should get better?

It was a good show overall. As CJ said, the formula they used has worked & tested well with the UK version thus why they have kept it the same.

I think over time it will get better. It'll branch out from the UK version & we'll see a true Aussie version of Top Gear. They just need to settle in a bit. They have a lot to live up to afterall.

For info, most of the people in that show work with, or have worked with Porsche Australia. Steve Pizzati especially, they even made reference to that before testing the new 911. Also, & I could be mistaken here, but Steve Pizzati is also the Stig... That was the word flying around the Porsche camp anyway. I know he is a nut bar driver, he took my old man's 911 around the Creek & well... he's overly aggressive to say the least

One thing I really didnt like about the show tonight was the camera work. On stage it was really shaky trying to follow the hosts. On the TG Test Track the camera angles were shocking and made the laps very boring. You could hardly see what was going on, even on the snow track.

Let's hope they get better over time :)

I thought the studio camera work was pretty much the same as it was on the UK show.

The track cameras were crap, no doubt about that. But if you've been watching the UK version on SBS lately (Older episodes) you'll find the camera layouts were pretty shocking initially too.

Let them all just settle in etc. Then we can all pass judgement in a few weeks... :P heheheheheh

I like the idea of a row of "Completely stock, honest" t-shirts in the audience :D
(You may have to wear them back to front to show up though! ;))
