not trying to sound like a smart arse, but i don't know how to say it euphemistically - when you look up, thats the milky way. earth is apart of the milky way. when you go into the dark country side where there is very little light pollution, its easier to see, point the camera straight up at the stars and the focus on infinity, and the camera should bring it out better than your own eyes. the "clouds" you can see in the picture aren't very visible with the human eye. 20-30 secs on the camera and it will show up

Nope thanks for the pointers. I'll live in the city so no chance of that. Time for a road trip up the mountains I think!!

yeah man do it! getting into the country side or just away from the city/suburbia is my favourite thing to do. being able to see/smell/hear the natural world is an amazing feeling. :D

You can see the Milky Way "cloud" in the city on a clear night but it's very faint - getting away from the city is much better.
cheers, David

heres a few from this week or two from me. took the maserati's out on Wednesday arvo for the shoot, thought id try and get the locate birdlife in the photo
also looks very dull in saturation compared to the computer i was editing on. i think the RGB on that monitor may be way out. i had it desaturated but not that much :( oh well, still looks decent.

Got a new lens to play with that gives swirly bokeh, borderline lomography but its still so sharp and fun to use.
Need time to use it for proper portraits.
