SWINGN Get's Modded!

Postby swingn » Fri Sep 12, 2008 12:36 pm

Hey Guys!

Well, I’ve kept my word, I’ve finally done some mods!

First things first. A very very very big thank you must go to Michael (Phat GT) for the supply & install of the parts (& for putting up with my phone calls :P ). The quality of the install is 2nd to none! I must also thank Funeral boys Leo, Jason & Phil for taking the time to give me advice & feed back of various parts over the past few months.

From the pictures you can obviously see I’ve gone for the HKS TMIC. I could be mistaken, but I believe I maybe the first in Australia to have this part on a Liberty. I know (Thanks to Phat GT) I’ve been blessed to be the only person in Australia – If not the world – to have an HKS TMIC with a strut brace! Custom brackets were made & piping was modified to accommodate this. Not as easy task at all!

I’ve also gone for the Blitz CF CAI kit. When I was looking for CAI, this was a clear stand out in terms of quality & performance. I know, I’m a brand whore, but I just had to go the best.

Other mods are as follows:

HKS Twin Spart Ignition Upgrade
HKS Race Spec Spark Plugs
HKS Down Pipe
Apexi N1 Catback
Greddy / Trust Profec Type S Boost Controller
Sard Upgraded Fuel Pump
Sard Fuel Pressure Regulator
Cusco Front & Rear (4 Point) Lower Arm Braces
Cusco Front & Rear Sway bars
Cusco Strut Brace with Break Stopper
Hanbi Smoked LED Tail Lights
Subaru JDM Engine Bay Covers

I’ve already had the HKS SSQV BOV on my car (Thanks Leo!) which is now custom mounted underneath the TMIC.

Work isn’t quite finished yet for this first round of mods. Due to some faulty parts, the Defi oil pressure gauge was unable to be installed. Also waiting for the lightened crank pulley to arrive.

It will be going in for a tune hopefully within the next 2-3 weeks. Even without it, the car feels stronger throughout the rev range & pulls a lot harder up high. Extremely happy with it to say the least.

Finally, & you all can have a laugh & call me a tool… I picked up my custom number plates this morning:

My logic was my car was Japanese & hot (IMO), so aside from the fact it’s not green… I thought it was rather fitting. Also wanted to set myself apart from crowd (There are a lot of silver Libertys out there) but didn’t want something too wanky, like 2HORNY

Cheers
Matt

Not the greatest shot & it was taken before all the engine mods were installed.

How does the HKS TMIC compare to the standard one, as well as the other ones on the market?

Does it require more cutting of the standard engine cover than the other aftermarket TMICs?

Cheers

HKS TMIC, is biggest TMIC upgrade for GT available on the market.
Its only available for pre face lift model though, late 03 - 06GT. It doesn't use the standard cover, HKS provides the carbon fibre cover with it.
